Yes you do. You can always submit an app to receive a duplicate in case you wanna have two copies. Not sure what that process is like though.

That would make sense but would require a change in State law and thus will never happen. California will never make things easier on us, in fact they are going to go through a major round of making things harder on us as soon as the decision is released in Bruen.

I finally pulled the trigger on my CCW permit.

03/01/2022 - Submitted App / Set Appt 04/05/22 Palm Desert Station

03/01/2022 - Uploaded requested Documents ID/Birth/Proof Residency

04/01/2022 - Recieved Live Scan directions and doc by email and interview confirmation.

04/03/2022 - Upload Cert of Class Completion and Qualification

04/04/2022 - Completed Live Scan (Palm Desert Andreas Mobile Unit)

04/05/2022 - Interview with Investigator - Phone 20 Mins +
(Detailed review of app and questions)

04/07/2022 - Uploaded Good Cause Addendum to Statement and updated Proof of Residency for current Month on bills.

Pending Live Scan approval, the investigator stated wait time is currently 30 to 60 days. Should receive email from Sherrif Administration within 30 days of them receiving background check/Live Scan results if no surprises. Total wait time 60 to 90 days.
Investigator stated " If I call or Email you we got a issue and it won't be good. If no surprises you should get your email to pick up".

CCW Approved (5 Months)

Hey guys just picked up my CCW yesterday.
This was my time frame of my process, total time was about 5 months from time of initial submission to issuance.

10/28/21 - Initial CCW application submitted.
10/28/21 - Appointment for interview was scheduled for 02/03/22, as this was the earliest date at the time for the Ben Clark Center.
02/03/22 - Interview over the phone/ verification of my information
02/08/ 22 - Live Scan for DOJ and FBI
02/12/22 - CCW Qualifications Course completed
04/06/22 - All results returned from livescan completed.
04/06/22 - CCW was approved and picked up same day.

What took the longest was for my firearms to clear on the live scan app.
I tracked the progress through the ATI tracking number on the DOJ website(roughly 2 months).

I luckily checked my ATI the morning of the 6th around 6:30am and it showed all checks were now completed.

Around 11:30 that same day I got an email from the Sheriffs Department stating that my CCW had been approved.

Mine was also two weeks ago and still shows Firearms in Progress.

Mine took about 8 weeks to complete.

Just started my renewal today. The earliest interviews are in June. 3 month away.

Questions,
Do I need to re-qualify with my firearms even if they same from the previous list?
Other than the 4 hour class, what is different from the initial to the renewal?

Keep checking and look for an open spot. When i started my renewal process,

3/20 upload all paperwork and completed information, I was out 3 months 6/19. Now im 4/21. Worth the effort.

I just completed my CCW course at Riverside Magnum indoors range yesterday.I learned alot from Alex (instructor).
Now I am working on my good cause letter today.Then I will begin my online CCW application ,upload all requested docs that are ready,pay fees and hope things go along quickly.
I'm Army Veteran no criminal record lives in Mo Val since 1990.

-Interviews are still telephonic as of late March
-Mine and my wife's interviews were between 3min and 14min. Duration depends upon your Gc statement, errors you may have in your app, and other follow up questions about your criminal background.

Good cause is very easy for self defense. My strategy is to cite specific events that have happened in your area in which someone may use a firearm to defend the life of themselves or others.

FYI: My interview was on 08/10, did a Live Scan on 08/12, then out of the blue on 09/12 got a text message and email indicating the permit was approved. Paid online Sunday evening and picked up on Monday morning.

If I may ask or if you recall approx how long was your interview .Also was in person or over the phone?
