Just got the news at 4pm today --- first an automated call (323 area code) followed by a text and then an e-mail. Paid the $80 and received another e-mail with directions to pick up the CCW permit during certain business hours, no need for an appointment. Started the process on 6-29-22. Thank you to everyone posting updates on this board. It was very helpful.

could someone please explain what I have to do next based on the answer I got back from Riverside Sherriff ?

Question: Good morning Riverside County Sheriff, I currently have a Sig P365 as my approved CCW. I shoot much more accurately with a flat trigger vs a curve trigger so I am wondering if it's ok to change my trigger to a flat trigger( absolutely no trigger pull weight changes ) and wondering if it's ok with Riverside County Sheriff.

Answer: Any modifications to existing permitted firearms must have a new requal and approval/signed off from the vendor rangemaster.

09/01/2022 Spoke with a Staff Member from the Riverside County CCW Department, Verified my Proof of Residency Documents were Adequate [Guard Card, Pay Stubs, and Bank Statement]

Received my notice today that my background check was completed but they needed additional information.

Called the CCW unit who as always was very nice, helpful and understanding.

Apparently the DOJ pulled up a school fight I was in when I was 14 or 15. I barely remember that fight but I do recall having to go in front of a school board and sign a contract that I would not get in any more trouble while I attended school. I never did and thought that was the end of that. Apparently not guess it's on my record. Sucks. Wish I knew the law back then. Lol.

Anyways the officer was very nice and asked that I send in a statement which I had just verbally explained to him so he could close my file. Which he said is very old. I applied back in April.

Well I guess I will wait for my official denial letter once it is closed out.

It was 30 years ago and has never come up on any of my live scans before for the FBI, DOD, LAPD and LASD as a contract employee.

From what the officer told me it was flagged under DOJ because it was part of a School Diversion Program. Apparently back then that program was used instead of charging kids with a crime.

I was never arrested or taken to jail or booking that I recall. I only appeared in front of the school board at least that's what i thought but according to the officer it was a diversion board and was like a hearing that my parents must of agreed too. I did have to prove to them it was self defense.


Being both my parents are deceased I can't ask them for any details.

Yeah that was over 30 years ago. So I dnt normally get in trouble but understand your point.

Super excited to pick up my permit on Monday.

This is how the process went for me:
07/17/22 completed CCW class/qualification.
07/18/22 submitted application.
-interview date PD. 10/4/22
07/18/22 reschedled interview date to 08/24/22 Riv.
08/24/22 Interview via phone.
08/24/22 received live scan request.
08/30/22 Live Scan appointment.
-08/30/22 CA cleared
-08/30/22 FBI cleared
-09/01/22 Firearms cleared
09/06/22 recieved phone call and email- approved
09/06/22 paid final fee, recieved email to pick it up during business hours. I was on vacation so I had to pick it up when I got back.
09/13/22 Picked up permit at Ben Clark Training Center.

Great news Calgunners! I received my approval today and pickup permit tomorrow. A little over two months. Not bad.

• 7/4/22 Applied for CCW online
• 7/9/22 Completed 8hr. CCW class w/firearms qualification.
• 9/6/22 Interview with investigator, Palm Desert.
• 9/6/22 Livescan Completed CA. & FBI same day.
• 9/9/22 Livescan Completed Firearms/DOJ.
• 9/13/22 Received call and email of permit approval & paid final payment of $80.
