Has anyone used a DL with a different address on it and updated your address with the DMV without getting a new physical DL? Currently hold a CCW issued by Orange County Sheriff and at the time of my initial application, they had the same requirement of needing the ID or DL to show current residence address within the county (my DL shows my previous address in LA county), but was told that as long as I updated the address with the DMV, I was good to go. They were fine with that on my initial and renewal app. Just curious if Riverside is the same way or if I'll need a new DL when I move at the end of the month. Hoping the wait for a new DL is less than the wait for a CCW appointment.

We went to AAA a couple months ago to do change of address on all our vehicles and IDs. We were told that it would be better to do the change for ID's online and then check the status a few days later to make sure it went through.

According to the rep, the CA DMV no longer issues updated cards unless it's a renewal or replacing a lost/damaged ID card. They don't even issue the brown paper card with handwritten updated address anymore.

Since then I've done a couple DROS and the FFL used my CA Real ID and CCW for all the paperwork. My FFL preferred my CCW over vehicle registration for proof of residence due to the fact that it must always have an updated and current address or it's revoked. Tried doing the same thing for ammo at Big 5 and they made me go fish the registration out of the car.

The permit is gun/serial number specific. You'd need to qualify with your other gun. There is "Modify Permit" button or something like that in the online application I believe. Just fill in the form and then go to qualification range on the given date. It's a pretty straightforward process.
One thing you can't beat Commiefornians at are the reloads.

For those of you who have appointment dates after your expiration date, looks like RCSD is being quite accommodating of us.

I emailed last week and they just bumped my appointment up

Nope...needs to be the gun you qualified with and Serial number. If you carry the gun that is not on your permit, this will jeapordize CCW.

Anyone have an experience or now if Riverside allows you to add an additional firearm to your existing permit? If so what is the process? Any info
                    Would be great.

                      Yes they do.

Complete the qualification with the new pistol (it's usually cheaper than standard class...call the instructor) I did mine through Right 2 Bear
Right 2 Bear Firearm Safety Service offers a wide variety of defensive classes such as concealed carry qualification classes, concealed carry fundamental classes, and basic pistol. We pride ourselves in providing a non-intimidating learning enviornment for our students. With over 50 years of combined experience, our team has you covered.

Complete the online application but choose Modify instead of New. It's $10 at date of this post.

Wait for call/email to pick up new permit.

                          Live Scan question

I was told a few weeks back that you can do the Live Scan prior to your interview and download the receipt to your packet application and that could speed up the process.

However, I have also read that the interview Sheriff will give you the paperwork necessary to do the Live scan, therefore you can't do it before the interview.

Could somebody please clarify. Thank you

I was given the Live Scan paperwork at the interview and did it right after. This was in the fall of 2020.

The Riverside County Sheriff can clarify:
                              5. Do I need to get fingerprinted before setting up an interview?

No. The Sheriff's CCW Unit will give you the paperwork to be fingerprinted. This ensures your fingerprints are routed back to the Sheriff's Department for our records.
