Picked up my renewal today. Went to Ben Clark, texted that I was there and 5 minutes later the Deputy came out with my bright and shiny new permit.

    Good for 2 years.

Could somebody please clarify. Thank you
Technically, yes you can get the livescan done beforehand but it can be kinda pricey.

At your interview, RCSD will give you a livescan form with their code on it. That's why it's $10.00 to be livescanned at a Substation, as opposed to $100.00+ at a UPS Store or whatever.

IMHO, it doesn't really speed up the approval process. I know it sucks to wait, but the CCW Unit Deputies are busting their @sses to get us approved!
      Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

Thanks for the feedback. I did email the sheriff and they did send me the forms to fill out for the live scan. So I'll complete them and go to a substation and get it done. One less thing to do.
        Appreciate everyone's help.

Yes and hurry up with setting your appointment, Appointments are 5+months out but the deputies are trying(and succeeding from what I hear and read) to keep renewals from lapsing.

I went back a couple pages and couldn't find an answer so I'll ask here.
Taking the renewal class/qual this Saturday at Ben Clark.
The webpage doesn't show what address or building number the class is
being held and the staff didn't pass that on during our phone call.

              Any info is appreciated.

When I had the training on 2/20, they had the re-qualifiers go directly to the range. You should probably call the center for updated info tho - 951-486-2785.

Picked up my permit this morning! I was nervous that it was taking forever to get my approval after qualification. However, I realized the hold up was probably the livescan results. I'm not sure how long it takes though but I'm guessing a few weeks?

For those still on the fence, go apply! The process is pretty easy and Riverside Sheriff were pretty awesome and easy to work with during the entire process.

I have a reminder in the calendar to start the renewal 1.5 years from now lol.

                      Timeline:
                      Initial application: 08/2020

                      Interview scheduled: 02/01/2021 (done)
                      Livescans scheduled: 2/14/21
                      Qualification: 2/20/21

Do you need to live in Riverside county to apply for one? I applied for Orange back in December but realized most of my work has been in Riverside County.

CCWs are issued based on residency. You can apply for one based on work, but it is limited to the jurisdiction of your work and expires in 90 days.

If you receive a CCW from OC, it is valid statewide.

questions to those who have picked up recently: do they take a new picture or just reuse the one you had before?

Did modification and they used the old picture. Not sure about renewals
