    Yes. I did not take the training until after my in-person interview. The investigator told me at the end of the interview that I should get the interview. They don't require the training until after the interview.

The range portion of most classes is downright frightening with the lack of skill.

          Understood. I already have all of the gear and ammo, and found a place where the training price includes the Livescan and fingerprints. Still looking at easily $500 including the CCW application. I'm sure I will be taking the plunge before too long.

            If you have never been threatened, have no restraining orders against anyone, don't own your own business, don't collect money, don't transport valuable goods, are you out of luck as far as showing just cause for a CCW in OC? Could someone share what has worked to get a CCW in OC under these circumstances as far as a just cause statement?

              Not out of luck. Our sheriff wants to issue but you need to provide something besides self defense. PM me and we can talk.

              Others might chime in as well with their experiences.

                Do you drive a company vehicle? Transport anything valuable? Drive into or through high crime areas? Those have all been on my GCS and I'm up for my 4th renewal.

                        Login to the website with your appointment number, you will have to print the application packet with the livescan request form.

                            This is my first renewal. Here's my timeline.

                            Expiration date is 9/6/2020

                            * 6-7-2020 - Submitted renewal application
                            * 6-8-2020 - I received an email indicating I was assigned a processor to my application and additional documentation needed
                            * 6-8-2020 - Submitted my DD-214 and NGB 22 on
                            * 7-16-2020 - CCW unit reached out requesting the training certificate
                            * 7-17-2020 - Completed training but couldn't do the live fire at the range until 7-24-2020 for two weapons
                            * 7-24-2020 - Uploaded my training certs and followed up via email with the CCW unit letting them know I uploaded my docs
                            * 7-25-2020 - CCW unit emailed me that my file was in for final review
                            * 8-11-2020 - Received email indicating my renewal was approved. Few hours later I received the call to pay for my CCW renewal over the phone.

                            Just short of 60 days from start to finish. Not too bad. As always, kudos to OCSD for their professionalism and willing to accommodate us citizens during these challenging times.

                              Hm...why is mine still pending?

                                It has been 105 days since uploading my renewal application. It is currently at the supervisors desk for approval. This is by far the longest of my renewals (even my original application was less time). It's been so long that my permit just expired. I'm guessing that the OCSD is slammed with applications because of the current state of affairs.
