When did they change it to 10/1? The email they sent me says 9/1 is the cutoff date, and I've been waiting around for their appointment.

Yes, it was sent in an email. If it was in error, there is nothing on the Web site that I can find which suggests otherwise. What about any of you recently picking up your permit?

Yep. Just picked up my renewal on 9/16 without an appointment. I called ahead and was told they extended the walk-in license pick up to 10/1.

Damn, that’s pretty fast! My gf just applied, interviewed, fingerprinted, but has to take the class. Would she get a conditional approval, or does she need the class before they make a decision?

They issue a conditional approval pending training certificate submission.
Training can be done online in a matter of days, then range time.

LiveScan is normally recommended at the initial interview - fingerprinting of all ten digits and a background check.

Training ahead of a conditional approval is unnecessary. It won't hurt anything, and can speed up the process a few days, but if the app is declined for some reason you're out the $$ for it.

Yes, pay at the counter - they're not setup to process credit cards on the application site.

I could swear they had said recently that they were enabling credit cards on the website. Did something go wrong with that, or was that never even a thing?

Do any of you know a good CCW course, not an initial one but like an advance course you take after you already have the permit from the OCSD.

They offer advance CCW clinics 1-2 a month. Great instruction with sufficient range time.

I watched someone in my CCW class go through the latter scenario, and it was very interesting to watch. I have no idea how many such scenarios they have.

They also do live-fire stuff, but they require membership and qualification to do that. Many other classes.

Like SoCalM1 suggested, Artemis has some good training. I also recommend the Combat Essentials or the Handgun Workshop courses taught by Mike from Assault Dynamics (better known as Knockoutlights on FB or IG) - fills up quick and is a bit of a drive to his facility in the Ventura County area, but definitely worth it
