You can send them email, but you will get a canned response. If you look in peoples signatures you will see timelines. I would imagine it will be another few months, likely more before they will schedule an interview. They are really backed up and don't communicate, or post processing times.

Dropped off application last month (July 2022) will update when I get a call or email. I'm in LA county, dropped it off with LASD.

Any advice on what to expect besides a 1+ year wait?

Also any advice on which guns are best for people with a small frame? 5'5 140 lbs. I was looking at the 43x and p365.

Hope you have some way of getting those off roster weapons legally.

I'm in the same boat. Handed it in + money order at the end of december. They should be hopefully contacting us this month.

Same here! Sheriff processed my MO on the spot and gave me a receipt. Still no communication; nor denial either.

In the meantime there was a double homicide by my office like a month ago. And we had a break-in back in July. I wonder if we can tell the criminals to hold off on their criminal activities for like 9-12 months

Looks like LASD changed their stance on being able to add or remove firearms only during renewal. It currently says:

If you require a firearm change, send the Make, Model, and serial number of the firearm you are adding or removing.

I don’t need to change mine but if any of you do please let us know what the process is in case I ever need to.

I hate to say it, but why would LASD commit to additional processing when they can't even process Initial CCW Applications in a timely fashion? LASD should catch up and shorten the time down to at least a year before they burden the skeleton crew they have with more work. What do you want to bet you send in the change, and it's renewal time before it is actually added to your Permit.

A question for the group (and a little context): I cleared my final portion of the Livescan August 5, and have been patiently waiting for my 'go to training' email. Then the news reported on the turmoil in the CCW unit, and the departure of some people that undoubtedly left them short-staffed.

So, while I wait, it occurred to me to ask whether anyone gotten a 'go to training' email since about August 1? I suspect that the CCW Unit is just way backed up and hasn't got the staff to notice that these Livescan results even got posted. If that's the case, then an email to the Unit would just be annoying them over something they can't control.

If anyone got anything, please weigh in (and about what date you got it). There might be an observable trend, or it might start to be visible that they are getting things back on track again.

The 2 folks in my signature were still waiting as of yesterday afternoon. I told both not to wait for the Training email, just go do it, when the email comes just upload their documents. From looking through the last few pages of the thread, it is taking LASD 3 months to get Training emails out. At the rate the CCW is moving, you will likely either see Sheriff V starting a new term, or get a CCW with the new Sheriff's name on it.
