-Interview 8/31 (advised to proceed with LS and training)

-Firearms complete 9/10. Emailed Deputy training certs and screen shot of LS status (all complete)
-Received call from different Deputy 11/15 requesting letter from employer confirming what I do for work or performance reviews. I chose to send annual performance reviews for the past 3 years and supplemented with how it ties to my GC. I asked about my "green" GC and she explicitly said they are not issuing based on that. She told me I should be receiving an email to proceed to training soon. I noted that my interviewing Deputy advised me to proceed with LS and training. She said he should not have done that. I was like oh great. She seemed annoyed but didn't press the issue.

12/6 received call from a 3rd Deputy for pickup on 12/8!

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if there are any photographers on here that have successfully gotten a permit? My work usually has me around the Hollywood and DTLA areas where there has been a huge increase in armed robberies. I carry around $8K-$10K worth of stuff on a normal shoot, so this makes me a big target for thieves -- especially these areas. Clients are also spooked, as sometimes we have a lot of very expensive clothing and jewelry on hand, among other things. Least to say, all of this has been bad for business.

I've been wanting to apply for a while now, but I'm not sure if this is a worthy GC statement. I currently have a day job where i work from home, so photography is not my primary means of employment at the moment. And from what I've been reading, it seems like this would be considered a light green GC, and light green GC statements are currently a no-go.

Anyone here have any advice?

I used photography and cycling as part of my GC statement. I have about $20k in photography gear and $15k in bikes. I had pictures, GPS coord, paid SPOT account to support Im out in the middle of no where, but in the end I was told it wasn't a valid GC and they focused on the yellow half of my GC. In your case, as others have noted, if you can provide a portfolio, website for you studio, contracts/bill/receipts, tax records etc to support your business i think you would have a solid chance. good luck!

I had already submitted pay stubs, W2 etc at the interview so yes I think they wanted more information/confirmation how my job related to my yellow GC.

i expressed concern about having to ask HR or boss for a letter and she said I didn't have to disclose why I needed the letter. regardless, i chose to use my reviews since there was nothing on there that i felt was too personal.
