Thanks, yes! Seems like a lot of us were interviewed by the same deputy in Whittier!
Have you done your training yet? bb557 had a similar timeline to both of us, and did his training and emailed the training docs proactively before being asked, and got issued his permit 3 weeks after.
I also did my training proactively but waited to email them when contacted to proceed with training.
As busy as the unit is now, I see no reason why anyone, confident of their GC, wouldn't just proceed with training and email their training certs proactively, instead of waiting for the go-ahead to do so.
I advised a fellow instructor who did her training but hadn't been told to proceed to training yet, to email her training certs to them anyway. She immediately got a response confirming they received them and added them to her file.
bb557 is convinced it sped up the process for him and neither of us were penalized for training before being asked to. Others have reported that their interviewing deputy gave out a list of approved trainers and told them they can proceed with training if they so wish.

My peer instructor got a confirmation back that the training certs were received and added to her file, so I doubt it does anything to affect one's file adversely in any way.
We'll see when and what her next status updates are from the CCW unit and I will share her progress here.
I will give my reasoning why. I believe it’s best to do the training early but hold off on emailing them until given instructions to do so. Why? Because them asking you to proceed is a status update on your file. One that is a very high likelihood you will be issued.
If you email them prematurely you will not be given this status update and be another month or three being in limbo having no idea where you status is at. That’s where I’m at. Me and bb have the same timeline and he got lucky. Sending them early does not necessarily mean you will be issued faster. I actually think it will be the same time frame, just one of them you get a nice update and another you’re in total limbo having no idea if you’ve passed the second stage of the process or not.Last edited by guymenton; 09-10-2021, 11:51 AM.L.A. Ok, I see your point. It's just a preference then...whether someone needs that reassurance of where they are exactly in the process.
Why don't you add to your timeline in the signature that you submitted your training proactively? That would help bolster your argument since you're still waiting for any word. I hope you get positive news soon!
I think you're misunderstanding.
I sent my training certs early too. I too received confirmation of delivery and added to file.
However, due to this, when it your turn to go to the next stage, you have no idea when or if you are in the next stage. They just proceed without asking since it is already on the file. If you have it on hand and wait until you receive the message for the request for training, you will get it added immediately and you get the benefit of knowing you will likely get issued.L.A. Back from interview. Deputy wanted more proof for Light Red, almost not taking into account yellow. Light green seemed to be almost not important. Also mentioned cause ... And afraid as well as that since my dad had open heart surgery, trying to get away from the problem would be impossible (2nd part didn't make any headway)*AZ/UT Permits*

CCW for Los Angeles County/Reason for desire for CCW
Hello everyone. I am trying to apply for my CCW. I am in Los Angeles County and live in Carson, Ca. The Carson Sheriff said they just collect the fee and transfer paper work to headquarters. Then they send to DOJ. They were very vague in telling me any information. I get it. I wanted to see if anyone could help me with my application? I am a maintenance manager and in the city of Long Beach the area I am in is very unpredictable. I have had many break ins, thefts, and attacks from drug users and mentally ill individuals. I am transporting tools and money but not a large sum on money. I wanted to see if anyone knows if I have a good chance with my situation. I also want to protect the building from intruders and or late night management with very unpredictable people in the area. What do you all think?Comment
