Not that we should draw attention to this. If carry spreads a lot and the legislature notices this, they'll require us all to shoot bullseyes at 50 yards with 100% of shots.
yea, I had to read that three times when I first saw it. Figured that couldn't be right...

But a few of my classmates in the CCW course was near that 70-80% mark.

But everyone in the course except for one person was running stock firearms with a holster they found at the gun show at the OC Fair Grounds.
LMAO so now I gotta admit that I bought a holster for my Shield at the OC gun show a couple weeks back

In my defense, I love it. Added a claw too. If I get the permit my daily won't be the Shield though, it will be the Glock 42 in a kydex pocket holster.

Now just to get that call for interview lol.
Not for all of us! Mine was submitted 5/17 and still in progress on firearms. CA and FBI cleared the same day. Did it for COE application.

Maybe the LASD has an inside lane on timing compared to CA DOJ??!!

Run the applicant status website several times a day, usually just before or after checking this blog. Thank God I am retired and have time to obsess.

I'm working full time. When live scans were taking 4-6 weeks, I was checking the website every 30 minutes on my phone, like an idiot.

I read this on the LASD CCW Page:
"The handgun must be registered/DROS to the applicant." What if the handgun was purchased before the days of DROS and out of state? I put a Model 36 down I bought when I was stationed in the mid-west, there was no registration back then, and Cali didn't care when I came back home.

Ya just checked mine for the first time and Ca and Fbi are completed, but Firearms is not. I did it yesterday.

I wish you guys didn't tell me this site to check the status existed, now I'm gonna check obsessively.

Dude I did the exact same thing. I also triple-checked to make sure the B-27 target wasn't in fact one of the smaller targets at least. It isn't, it's indeed the huge 1-1 lifesize one.

I guess it makes some logical sense. Most self-defense shootings are within 7 yards, and you would presumably be shooting at an attacker about that size.

Still, if you are just barely landing torso shots at 3-5-7 yards under no stress, yikes. Practice more.

That said, in San Diego when I did mine a couple years back, the instructor made us shoot a regular size piece of paper at the 3-5-7 yards. He said the regular standard was too easy. The paper wasn't much harder of course.

Agreed. I can easily see my accuracy with a double action tiny .380 pocket pistol deteriorating when jacked up on adrenalin. And maybe point shooting one handed. Then 70% might be realistic.

But wow, 70% on that target when standing quietly in a one-way range???
