Definitely pickup as much insurance as you can. Look at what happens to the police when there is a good shoot we will not have that kind of support if we get involved in any kind of incident.

To begin, the reason I want a CCW is because I often have to go to Downtown Los Angeles for both work and play. I am an attorney and (at least prior to the pandemic) regularly attended Court in Downtown. I have been accosted by homeless people at or around the court, twice. I suspect the situation will be even worse when we return to the courts in person.
            ...

I am curious, do you guys think I have a shot at obtaining the CCW? I have other reasons but wanted to start here and see your opinions.
I know of several attorneys (myself included) who have been issued a permit in LA County. As counsel, you should mind not to speculate on why you are being accosted. Just stick to the fact that you were and describe how it happened.

This is the paradox, since your chances for trouble are going to be among the highest while you are not able to be armed (i.e., between your vehicle and the courthouse). But it is still better than nothing. Make sure you brush up on the laws and practicalities of safe vehicle storage. I suggest a sturdy cable-anchored lockbox with the ability for relatively quick (but not too simplistic) access.

You will find yourself assessing each and every social engagement and figuring out whether you can carry or not. You might find a lot less social alcohol in your life now, LOL

They all seem to be decent companies, but please read the policy contracts in detail to make sure it is the right fit for your particular circumstances and preferences. I personally went with USCCA due to the ability to choose your own attorney, although some prefer CCW Safe because there is no cap on legal fees - however you are limited to their network of attorneys and your preferred representative may not be on that list.

Had my interview today. I was told to proceed with training and live scan. I was informed that live scan may take from 2-6 weeks and just be patient.

Congratulations on the interview! Now I am wondering if they have some type of internal prioritization system or if it depends on how the app was sent in. I mailed my app on 3/16 and got a call for an interview on 3/23. Did you drop off your app or mail it in?

We're making it too complex. Honestly think they just put it in a stack and they just grab from the stack and review them.

Probably what I'm expecting. I thought everyone got an interview. At the time of submitting and articulating my GC statement I left work related things out that I know will help me. I work for a TV station and transport expensive broadcast equipment a few times a year to a shipping facility. I completely left this out and instead wrote about 3 instances I had to call LE. One, I was followed home from work. Two, car was vandalized. three, someone tried to break in a residence I was visiting. I also wrote apart jogging early in the AM due to a long work commute. Now I wish I would have written about work. I was hoping to explain this at the interview and take proof but if if not everyone gets an interview I wont have a chance to do so. How soon after a denial can one apply again? Any advise?

They specifically said go to training? I thought they give you the livescan form first and then the training e-mail comes after livescan.

Has anyone gotten a "go to training" e-mail? My livescan has been complete for about a week now and I haven't heard anything.
