To be clear brother, my boss' application went through the initial waiting period, which was 8 months before interview, this is the period where IA sort things out and assigns it to whoever deputy it is supposed to go; after interview though was when things got expedited for him. Livescan for all 3 was 14 days, submission of training docs was 10 days and call to pick up thereafter was 10 days if i remembered correctly. But... he missed the call and was able to pick up his permit a month after the initail call and after I emailed the IA regarding his circumstance. All these delays and he still came out one full month before me; it would have been 2 months had he not missed his call. This was before Bruen btw so applicants then are more or less 6k, applicants now are over 100, so expnentially, the initial wait time for sorting out stuff by the IA would probably be longer.Last edited by shadow77phl; 11-03-2022, 11:26 PM.Re-Elect Sheriff AV 2022

Had my interview this morning. At this point I think the process is pretty over-explained, so I won’t bother other than to say I feel like it went very well!
It just dawned on me however that my interviewing deputy may have forgotten to have me sign and date the relevant pages on my application, and that I definitely forgot to ask about that. Anyone else recently interview and not go back to sign and date at the time of interview?02.28.22 - Application mailed
07.13.22 - Live Scan complete
11.03.22 - Interview
01.14.23 - Proceed to training authorization
01.21.23 - Cert submitted
01.23.23 - Acknowledged receipt
03.12.23 - Call to schedule pickup
04.07.23 - Permit issuedComment

So I just had mine on Oct 31st. Here is a summary: (Los Angeles) - 1 Glock
I submitted my application (mailed it in) on July 26th and got a call from the receptionist to schedule my interview on Oct 15th. She was nice but gave me the wrong info.
-She told me I need to bring 3 copies of the applications (a heck of a lot of paper). This was not true, only needed one (still brought 3).
-The location of the Police Academy was wrong, but I called the number she provided me an officer let me know where to go (ironically he was my interviewer)
- Since I submitted it in July, they updated their applications for Aug, so I had to bring a new Aug application and a new check for $58 (the $30 I sent in July will not be cashed in). I didn't have a check on hand, but went to a USPS store after the interview, got a money order check, and brought it back.
- The interview was really chill, just asking the same questions in the applications, with yes and no answers.
IMPORTANT: Because of a June 2022 supreme court ruling in New York, the LAPD no longer requires you to explain why you need a CCW. I had my reason why I needed one, and brought documents to show proof- but the question never came up (never had to provide any of my documents)
It was just the applications questions and then my officer gave me a forum that I needed to provide for a live scan (they didn't have one on-site)
Drove home, and maybe 2 hours later found a live scan company in a Korean gift shop and got it done. Paid around $124.
*Probable Cause for a CCW is no longer required to ask for the Los Angeles county. You just need to be a good moral character.
Anyway, the live scan is almost done (CA, FBI finished) I'm just waiting on the "Firearm" scan (how long does that take for one gun)
Hope this helps those in Los Angeles. I've heard this county is one of the toughest and longest ones in CA. I was expecting a call in Aug 2023, but man that first phone call was out of the blue.
Has anyone else had a similar experience in LA CCW processes or did I just get lucky so far?Comment

Your timeline gives me hope. I applied only 3 days after you, but walked it in to local station.
I guess I should start picking up SPAM LIKELY calls?

Would you mind clarifying which department you applied through, LAPD or LASD? Sounds like you applied through LAPD, however they only began accepting applications about a month ago.So I just had mine on Oct 31st. Here is a summary: (Los Angeles) - 1 Glock
