I’m getting a lot of mix information. Some are saying put N/A or leave blank for GC. Some are saying put atleast self defense in a sentence. I inquired with some ccw trainers for LA county and some say you just put self defense and that’s it. One also stated you won’t have to do an interview later on. He said something like you would just apply pass background, go to training and then get issued which I thought was interesting. From what I’ve been hearing from all over it’s hit or miss if you apply now and don’t have a GC that meets current guidelines you’ll get denied and will have to wait 1 year. If you appeal it will probably take longer. Some are waiting to apply because they don’t want to get denied and want to see updates. What is everyone’s thought on this? Is it better to apply now or wait?

Apply now, it can't hurt, your application is going to be sitting in a pile for 9-12 months without even looked at. I would not put it past the the state to revamp the entire CCW application and make us all start over in a few months anyways.

Yes, you can modify that list. When you do the CCW 8 hour training, you need to bring the LASD Shooting Proficiency Standards Live Fire Exercises form with you. You will document the guns you will qualfiy with (up to 3 guns). These guns are what will be on your CCW.

Hi,

I Was getting a ton of spam calls and unknown caller, for weeks.

I finally checked my voicemail. LACSD Deputy letf a message attempting to schedule a interview,. I was excited. We played tag for close to a month.

I finally, spoke with the Deputy on 07/12/2022.

Interview scheduled for 07/28/2022.

I can't wait for the next step.

I know someone asked already but I'm going to follow up as well. What was the phone # or at least the area code of the number that called? And when did you apply?

Calls from LASD will show up as "Restricted", "No Caller ID" or "Caller ID Blocked" - depending on your carrier.

SB 918 is likely to become law soon after legislature reconvenes Aug. 1. It specifically requires a new revamped application because the questions and instructions will change.

Hey guys, it's not worth taking the chance just to put n/a or self defense for the good cause statement. PLEASE try to make an effort to still show the CCW unit that people are still serious about obtaining a CCW. Before the ruling, calgunners were writing long sentences and paragraphs. If for any reason you are denied, you will have to wait a year to re apply unless "circumstances" have changed. It's a big question mark now but it's not worth taking the risk to prove a political statement. We are all pro 2nd amendment here and pro gun but we have made HUGE progress that we can actually obtain a CCW in one of the most liberal counties in the US. We want AV and the LASD to know that we are serious about this.
