Just thought I would show everyone my updated timeline. Now to figure out the best place for training.

Firing line in Burbank, no need for an appointment and it is walk in. They have the class almost every day of the week. It is a long 8 hours but just go knock it out in one setting. Do it quickly and send them the docs when you're done. Do it before the election to secure your spot. Good luck!

I never really tracked my timeline because I didn't know about that until deep into the process but basically applied June 2021, interview December, Livescan Jan, Training email March, Training completed and docs sent early April. 3 weeks to the day to get the call. GC work related.

Thanks for the help during this all, even though I mostly lurked. For those still waiting, just hang tight. You'll get the call... eventually.

Anytime, it's pretty long. Bring some water, snacks, & eat a big meal beforehand. There aren't really any breaks in between unless you have to use the bathroom of course.

When I was doing my training at firing line, there was a marketing rep from USCCA. It's about $30 monthly and they gave us some goodies if we signed up on the spot but it's up to you. There are a few other companies, as long as you have coverage.

On the insurance side, I've decided to go the CCW Safe route. Just heard better things about them over a fair bit of research. I guess, in the end so long as we have coverage we like and trust them that is the goal.

Interview was today at the Sherman Building.

It took maybe 15 mins and was as described, just a rehash of answering all the questions on the application. I brought copies of all the stuff I mailed in case something had been lost or misplaced, but they had everything, so I only ended up giving them a few additional things related to my work.

Two main takeaways:

Good Cause:

When I submitted, I had both a yellow and light green GC. I asked about going over my GC, and the deputy said that was not necessary, they had what they needed. I mentioned that there were two GC, and she said that they were going to use the yellow one and discard the LG. I asked if there was any way they could pick the wrong one and deny, and she said no. I got the standard line that "GC looks good but I am not the approver."

Livescan:

I did livescan a month ago so when she said "lets get you livescanned" I handed her the form and she took it gladly, admitting that there is a long delay right now. But, she also said that "We process applications by date of interview, not by who completes livescan first. So you may not see a difference in time when compared to someone that livescans today."

That is very good that the investigator broought that up. If you have the money to do th elivescan and take a risk, it's worth it. I waited until the day they told me to do the livescan and training just incase if I were to get denied. Good luck man!

You won't know which one is better unless you have to use it (knock on wood & praying.) Hopefully the renewal process will be streamlined in two years. I do not want to go through all the hoops again lol.

I know God forbid we have to use it . I hope its much easier next time around and easy for everybody else applying
