Seaweedsoyboy, I'm just getting your news this morning. My heart goes out to you.

I think the answer to this question could be very helpful to our understanding the process.

I emailed my training and live scan over a couple of weeks ago - preemptively , a couple of days later i received an email from the CCW team requesting i send over missing pages of the application, not sure how they were missing as i hand delivered them to the sheriffs office but who every gave the advice to send over before requested, thank you, it saved my application, Not heard back regarding interview yet, but fingers crossed.

I don't know what AV will do, but I will say that I thought exactly the same thing about Sheriff Gore in San Diego and I was wrong. After he was re-elected, he continued issuing just like he was before the election.

You guys seem to forget the color code is not what LASD officially uses as good cause indicator. So one light green good cause is not the same as another.

Seems like a stretch to me given how few votes it will get him. Given how few people applied (under 6,000) the perception however correct or incorrect is LA County is still very hard to get issued.

Compare LACO to other neighboring counties, we can easily see the quality of life is not worst in LACO than in other places. Cities ran by democrats typically bring negative impacts to the quality of life due to higher crime rates, expensive taxation, and stupid expensive social services.

LACO is run by socialist democrats including the Sheriff himself. The quality of life and rights of people will not change until people start to vote these money-sucking criminals out of political life forever. If Sheriff refuses to change his CCW policy to shall issue, then there is no positive outcome for the people of LACO.

I refuse to be a savage. I rather help others in need than looking down on them. I believe that respect or courtesy comes from one's genuine heart to take care of others and share the joy and sadness together.

*Started writing this at like noon today so if more comments have popped up by the time I post it I will try to get to those too in time!

Sorry for leaving you all hanging after that bombshell last night and this morning. May or may not be a little hungover/food coma'd from..... coping... last night. I'm going to try and address some of the clarification questions on this page of the thread:

If the denial is due to something they found in your background, then I get it. But if they denied you after telling you to proceed with the livescan even knowing you only had a green good cause, then that's messed up. In my opinion the good cause should be deemed acceptable (or not) before having anyone spend more money on the process. Verifying the stated good cause is fine of course, but turning around and stating it's not sufficient after previously letting you proceed with it is messed up. If your good cause is what you say it is and they let you spend more money on the process, and there are no red flags in the background check, they should have to issue.
I was told to proceed to live scan via email notification about one week after my interview with my interviewing deputy. Yes, I preemptively did a live scan about a month and a half or so prior to being contacted for my interview, but that one was definitely on me. After being told to get my live scan done, I went and got a second one. The denial is solely based on good cause, according to the letter.

He has zero criminal history and is one of the good guys. My theory is they might have made some quota and are easing back on what they are accepting since they have a crazy pool of applicants now.
                                This too is my theory.

I also put together a dissertation level amount of facts, research, paperwork - my deputy didn't take 95% of it to the next level of deputies.
This was my experience as well and, based on the follow up phone call I received 09/01 to confirm good cause (which I mentioned here before), I think this lack of information/material communication, and the significant deputy-to-deputy discrepancy regarding what they consider to be "sufficient evidence of good cause" played a large part in my denial.

If there was no failure on your end but they let you proceed this far, then it sure as hell seems like an order came mid-process to stop issuing on green GC, or at least be much tougher on them.
To simplify the phone conversation I had with the deputy on 09/01, I'll focus on the LG GC she primarily emphasized and not the other unrelated things we talked about. At base, the LG GC she focused on was one that involved carrying expensive nighttime photography equipment to isolated areas and getting gas going to/from these locations etc. Obviously more detailed than that in my statement, but that's the gist of it.

The evidence I provided in my initial application was pretty extensive for all of the three good causes I listed, however I would say that particular element had the least "proof" provided in the initial app. When I sent the app in, the supplement I provided for that GC was, from what I can remember, primarily a map of a sample route I take to one of the locations, overlaid with a cell coverage map from my cell carrier. When I was called for my interview, the interviewing deputy told me to bring photos of the equipment I bring with me and keep in my car, and receipts/valuations of the equipment. Most of the equipment were either gifts or purchased in person long ago enough that I could not find receipts for them, so I brought photos of the equipment with valuations printed below each picture derived from the values I could find online. In the interview, the deputy noted that the value of the equipment I included was not that much (it was a few thousand), and asked if I had gas station receipts, which I did not at the time or a parks pass, which I had at home and told him I would email a scan of it when I returned, which I did. The interviewing deputy did not want to focus on that good cause and moved on. I never got confirmation he received the emailed scans and don't know if they ever ended up in my file.

Fast forward to the 09/01 phone call, the investigator I spoke to seemed far more interested in that good cause and noted that, for her, that was a "good enough" good cause. In the interim between my interview and that phone call, I acquired much better equipment to up my game and had receipts to show that along with gas station receipts from the trips I made after the interview. I noted all of this and asked her if she would like me to send copies of all of that over to add to my file, to which she replied that the evidence she already had was plenty and that nothing more was necessary for her to make my case. She said she was putting my application forward as approved for Good Cause before we ended the call.

Sounds like seaweed never got the proceed with training email based on his signature. Am I correct?
That is correct. However, I submitted my training documents the week after the follow-up phone call because I felt encouraged when I was told she was putting my app forward as approved for good cause and to contact them in four weeks if I had not heard anything by then.
