I wonder if it's worth it to wait for Corlett to be decided by SCOTUS. It may force shall on CA.

I would say apply now if you have any reasonable chance. if LA goes to Shall issue for any reason, the wait time for an appointment will junp from weeks to a year or more in no time at all. if you are turned down for lack of GC, it will not hurt you at all when the standard changes and you re-apply.

I really hope LA becomes dark green GC at some point. I have no recreational GC. I don't hike with expensive gear or any of that, and I don't think I should lie about something like that.

Hurt? No, I think it's the best way.

If you hand it off to a local Sheriff's office, it either goes USPS or someone has to take it to downtown via internal mail.

I live on the West Side and my app gets there next day via flat rate letter.

Would also really appreciate if someone who was handed the livescan form from the interviewing officer can confirm if it is filled out the exact same as the one available the LASD CCW page.

I've read a bunch of posts saying the firearms portion of the livescan has been taking weeks, so I'd like to get a head start on that regardless of how the process goes.

You need the scan code from the sheriff. Pretty sure you could figure it out yourself, but...

Don't do this.

It looks weird and shows you are not following their process. It's likely they'll make you do it again and you've wasted your time and created confusion with them, just before coming in to the interview. Do you want to explain to them in the interview why you went ahead and presumed you should do your livescan without waiting for them? No.

Just wait for them to give you authorization to do it. There are livescan places all over and it takes 15 minutes and you can do it the same day you get the email from the sheriff.

I would also wait on the class. Do go ahead and schedule the class after you get your livescan authorization, but not before.
