Misdemeanor, blew a .1 after driving less than a block so the car wouldn't get towed overnight since it was in a private lot.

Welcome to Kalifornia - A unconstitutional state where opinions trump over facts, "gun laws are too lax" & "you can't haves, unless it's taxed."

I posted something above. I think is depends on how far of the dui and how u change since then. Everyone make mistakes. Nobody are perfect.....

So you had an interview and got denied? Did they give you a reason for denial or just the not good moral character denial?

The essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the later has no implications for their accepting the former.

EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.

I think what they are looking for is responsibility with dangerous equipment. LASD would get crucified if they issued to someone with a DUI if that person were to be involved in a shoot. Look at officer involved shootings that were later determined to be good shoots and they still went thru hell. I sympathize but it ain't up to me and unfortunately LASD will take into consideration the optics if things went side ways.

                  What was your gc?

The DUI ain't going away even if you expunge apparently. It would still show on a LE background. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think they can see if you've been ever arrested even though they say the live scan only goes back 7 years. Juvenile expungements might be different I don't know last time I brought that up here I was told to STFU and just be honest even though I thought that would help others out. Especially those that went thru the trouble and expense of getting a juvenile record expunged.

Buying/selling/trading musical instruments and gear. Usually between 1-5k cash or equivalent in gear on me and essentially travelling anywhere within a 75 mile radius of DTLA to meet up with strangers from the internet who know what I'm going to have on me beforehand. Have emails / listings / bank transactions to back it up too. I've been in a few sketchy situations but nothing that turned bad enough to get the cops involved so no police reports or immediate threats.

Gotcha. Tough call my source did not mention if it was all DUI or just felony DUI. I guess a denial wouldn't look good for future applications but then again DUI would still show anyways so the reason for denial wouldn't change. Maybe they will liberalize their requirements in July as others have speculated? Would be awesome if they just allowed all legal firearm owners to get a CCW. I mean if you can legally own a firearm why can't you carry it?

That's correct, LASD will not accept Self Defense as good cause although there is no legal reason they could not if they chose to. Many Sheriffs working under the same California state law do. In the last San Diego Sheriff's election, the candidate who lost, a Democrat, if you can believe it, promised he would accept Self Defense. It was during that election that the current SD Sheriff loosened his policies considerably, but not to the point of accepting pure Self Defense. I must say the pace at which AV is relaxing restrictions is quite impressive.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

Haven't turned one in yet but will later on. Might be a good idea to put in more time between the DUI and the application just to show that it was an isolated incident of poor judgement.

I wonder if it's worth it to wait for Corlett to be decided by SCOTUS. It may force shall on CA.
