Was also able to add another firearm to the list over the phone.

    Timeline:
    08/29/22 - Application submitted
08/29/22 - Live scan instructions received
    08/29/22 - Live scan performed:
    08/29/22 - CA & FBI completed
    09/01/22 - Firearms completed
04/18/23 - Invitation to schedule interview
04/21/23 - Interview via Microsoft Teams
    05/22/23 - Application approved
So it looks like it takes about a month from date of interview to approval.

I messed up on mine, or at least my freakin email filter did. Lost over two months of the processing time. With almost a hundred junk mails I get everyday, I did not notice one of them was from the County.
I got a call this afternoon from Vielka McCarthy, she said that she sent two emails, March and April to schedule my interview. And since I did not reply she called and ask if I wanted to withdraw my application. Of course not! I told her I did not receive her emails. She asked for an alternate email and sent again the request to schedule a date.

Roughly nine and a half months from application to approval. Interview to approval was roughly two weeks.

The SMSO is working hard seeing the application count went from 100 or so applications per year, to well over 850 in a couple months back when Bruen came down, and more after that etc, plus all of those are in addition to however many expedited court and job related time sensitive applications they get which are pushed to the front of the line.

When I picked up my CCW, they issued two copies. One was credit card sized and the other was approx a 8.5”x11” piece of paper. Are we suppose to carrying both on us?

Just carry the credit card size one and you should be fine.

The credit card style one should be sufficient in and of itself. CA law allows IAs to issue their own style of permit so long as the license design is vetted and approved pursuant to PC 26175(a)(3)(B) and (C). I would certainly hope that the SO had their license design approved by the AG's office prior to issuing them to applicants.

The AG is tasked with creating a uniform license pursuant to PC 26175(a)(3)(A), which is the paper one. From what I've seen the paper one should be a little over twice the size of a credit card, and not 8.5"x11". Did they just choose to print it on 8.5"x11" paper?

The info filled up 3/4th of the paper. Only thing different in terms of information from the credit card size license was your right thumb print.

Just found the San Mateo thread.

I jumped on the CCW application right away.

Overall was about four months, but two months of it was on me with a delay in livescan.

I did not have any in-person appointments.

06/14/23 - Picked up CCW license at the SMC Hall of Justice

BTW, you want to go through the public access of this building. I had trouble finding it using google maps. The location it gave me was across the street for the law library which is wrong.

Picked up my CCW permit today! While I was waiting in the hallway for the Sheriff's Office lobby to open after lunch, I bumped into Sheriff Corpus and had a very brief conversation.

@911GT3, it appears that the paper permit is just an enlarged version of the DOJ's standardize permit. Jennifer said she was going to send a copy of the paper one to the DOJ and to bring the paper permit with you when out-of-county. Not sure how accurate that is because people were only issued the plastic card permit during Bolanos' term.

Also @Phil413, when I asked about renewals, Jennifer said to submit a renewal application 60-90 days before your permit expiration date.

My final timeline is listed below. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
