Yup. Corpus was a mistake. Haven't seen a thing from her administration which has told me she was a better choice. Makes me wonder if Bolanos had just been issuing ccw to begin with that he would have won reelection.

Not really a surprise. Her position on CCW's during her campaign didn't sound promising at all.

But she won the election by about 20,000 votes. Even if everyone who applied for a CCW permit in SMCO since Bruen (sounds like somewhere between 1,000-2,000?) voted for Bolanos, it wouldn't have changed the outcome. I think there were bigger problems with Bolanos that were of concern to the general population in SMCO, and the Batmobile raid capped off his tenure as Sheriff with controversy. I wonder if anyone has looked into whether or not Bolanos' good friend, Sam Anagnostou, was issued a CCW permit. Bolanos' CCW permit issuing scheme pre-Bruen was probably similar to that of Laurie Smith in the neighboring Santa Clara County.

Just saying hello friends and neighbors in SMC. I'm new to this forum (as a member, been lurking for a while) and will be applying for CCW soon. Lots of research for me to get up to speed on but it sounds promising, albeit a long process.

Welcome to the forum. And yes, it's going to be a long process. So the sooner you get your application in, the better. Good luck!

Thank you! I was waiting to get the 3 handguns I wanted to list before starting the process but learned (from this thread) that I can update throughout until issuance. So away we go!

I recently ran into someone in the pipeline who said he was unable to modify the pistols listed on his initial app.

edit: He may have misunderstood the process, see Saber's clarification below.

Ironically, if we aren't able to modify pistols once the app is submitted, that just means individuals will buy more pistols initially to get their app in order.

How do I know this? Well, because that's exactly what I did. I was happy with one, but then I got gist of all this app nonsense and went ahead and got 2 more so I wouldn't have silly issues down the line. Backing people into corners unnecessarily if that's the case. If safety is paramount then anyone should be able to discard a platform with which they're uncomfortable, and adopt a new one.

Wow. That's quite a change from just 2 months ago. I was able to add a firearm to the list over the phone when I was approved for training late-May.

Applicants can still change/ add/ modify their firearms during the application process as long as they do it BEFORE they qualify with their firearms. We just re-confirmed that.

The problem SMSO encountered (based on what I heard) was that too many applicants were adding or modifying the firearms on their permit within a month or two of getting it issued. This was bogging down their workload when they wanted to process more new applicants.

Given limited resources, would you rather existing CCW holders be able to modify their permit or have more CCWs issued? Of course the ideal is both, but if you have to choose I'd go with the latter.

Can someone describe the process of adding a firearm? Is it via email? Does this mean I need to request a new ATI number ..etc.

I have been waiting for 8 months and don’t want to jeopardize with further wait.

                            Thank you.

I just waited until the interview and she kindly let me add or subtract so long as the background shows you are the owner. Then she will submit to the sheriff for signature.
