Firearm Safety Certificate. If you don' have a CCW (permission slip), then you need to take a test and get a FSC (lasts 5 years). You need to present the FSC each time you purchase a firearm and then perform a safe handling demonstration (the clown suit and juggling act are optional). Having a CCW exempts you from having to have the FSC and from the safe handling demonstration.

I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

Day 70. Wow, time really is slowing down.
In earlier threads it seemed like some suggested that if you make it through the 2nd half of the wait, you may want to take the risk and schedule the CCW course.
DGM seems to only let you schedule post-approval. Are all places like this? Would anyone recommend I try to do the course in advance, or am I "jumping the gun" by doing that?Comment

I know the wait is brutal and you are at day 70. I would still personally wait until you are approved. I know for alot of folks they would not want to blow $200.00 bucks on the training to be denied later. I have yet seen anyone post for San Diego County that has taken the course without having an approval letter prior to the training. In my opinion you have already waited 70 days post live scan, what is another 20 days to have peace of mind that you are approved before proceeding with the training.Day 70. I took my course in two parts the first 4 hours before I even applied and then I did the shoot part three weeks after my approval. If I was to do it again I would schedule my full class 60 days after my interview. I did mine will bill Desy with ccw usa.sent from the depths of my subconsciousComment

There's a 90 day shelf life on the course. The risk is if they're running late or your application gets rejected. It's your money.Day 70. Wow, time really is slowing down.

Yes/No. They have 90 days to approve or deny, but they get to 'hold' your formal application until such a time that they calculate that they can be done in 90 days.
The don't consider you having applied formally until you go in to review your paperwork/get livescan. It's a workaround to the 90 days, in effect.Comment

That sounds like a really good plan. The only thing that could be an issue is I noticed a lot of these instructors will not allow you take the training with no approval letter. How do you get around that issue?
