I was very early in the process before they got so backed up, and they were being exceptionally carefull. Nobody had any idea what to expect from the process at that time. I had been out of town for quite a while and came back to find a deputy's business card stuck in my door. He came by during working hours on a weekday when it would be quite common for nobody to be home. I called him the next work day and asked how do we schedule the residence check, and he said the fact that I found his card and called back was all he needed, so even if you are not home when they arrive unannounced, it's no big deal.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

I started with a CA flavor Shield and that was the main one for a long time, but found I could carry my Sig P229 just fine once I got used to the weight, and it's from 1993 so none of the lame CA safety requirements. I'll go to the shield rarely now, also have a little .380 and use a sticky holster if I make a quick run down the street and don't want to gear up all the way.

"Yeah, like... well, I just want to slap a hippie or two. Maybe even make them get jobs."

I've thought about it, I could put the .380 in an ankle holster but man, not being LEO I struggle to find a situation likely I would need it, just needing your CCW is rare to begin with. Maybe if things got really frisky in the world, I mean there's an option there to hand it to my wife or friend if it was a bad bad situation, like suddenly find yourself in a riot area. But these are wild scenarios. The average self defense shooting is within six feet and two shots.

I don't know anybody outside of law enforcement that carries a second gun (New York reload).

If I were looking for a new .380 for CCW, I think I there are some pretty small Glocks. There are some really small 1911 pattern .380's like the Colt Mustang, and Sig P238.

Does anyone know if you use your job as a reason do they contact your employer?
