Also...as you approach the end of the process...and if you have used utility bills that will be about 90 days old at that point, expect them to come back and ask you for more recent bills. They seem to be a bit fanatical about wanting very recent bills. You can even just upload them proactively if you want.
I brought nothing to my appointment except my driver license, because the email for the appointment said so. I uploaded bills many months prior to appointment, well longer than 90 days, and they didn't mention a thing.
The interview was 100% "is all the info you entered and uploaded, correct, and still the same?" That was it. They actually print out a page of your info for you, and just have you check it while they log into permitium and make sure everything is in there. Then check ID only at the print taking station. Sign. Get picture taken. Leave.
That's why I've said the whole thing was pointless. There's not a single reason you can't do livescan on your own, and upload a standard passport photo. There is nothing they do at the "interview" that couldn't be done without it, and on a weeks timeline, instead of months/year+.

I suspect the interview is really for people who might have some issues in their past and the Sheriff/clerks want clarification on stuff.

I'm also scratching my head as to why this is a 90 day process for them and not 30 days. Is it cause they're backlogged or is it because Livescans by the state are taking so long?

That's a good sign. Maybe they're getting control of their backlog.

As others have noted, the renewal process seems to be streamlined:

-Submitted renewal application on Friday, 3/24/23.
-On Monday, 3/27/23, received e-mail and text message stating my renewal would be processed, with the caveat it will not be assigned to staff if the application is incomplete.
-On Tuesday, 3/28/23, received e-mail and text message stating my renewal has been approved.
-On Wednesday, 3/29/23, received an email and text message reminding me my permit is up for renewal. Go figure--they're sending reminders!
-On Thursday, 3/30/23, my renewed permit arrived in the mail.

Wow. So how much time did you end up losing since they don't date your renewed permit in accordance with your expiration date?

I lost 26 days to be exact. No offer to hold off on issuing until closer to the expiration date (and I didn't ask).

On the other hand, the acknowledgement message sent after submitting the renewal package says "you will receive your license in the mail within 3-4 weeks if all supporting documents are included with the application." So, I'm not sure I would risk waiting, anticipating a <1 week turnaround.

As soon as you can! I believe it's 45 days. Do your training within 90 days and submit the certificate to permitium. Then 45 days before expiration submit your renewal.

Strange, I started the Permitium process last week and received April 1, 2024 as appointment date, then today moved it to December 11 this year and a couple hours later moved it to June 12, 2023. Very strange that 6/12/23 has opened up that much.

I just did a search and found nothing so please forgive me if this has already been answered. Where exactly do we show up for the interview? Is it at the Ridgehaven Ct address?
