unbearably slow today

Frankly, this stuff started right after I became a lifetime contributor, so I apologize to all. My fault.

MASSIVE DEGRADATION over the last 24-48 hours.

Site was virtually perfect and glitch free a couple days ago, purring along like a well oiled machine.... THEN....

2 days ago it was back to glitch city, and as of the time of this post, once again throwing off blank "can't load" screens with alarming consistency, slow page loads some of the time (10-15+ seconds after clicking), and sometimes loading perfectly quickly, all random and within seconds of the malfunctions.

Not sure what is causing this, just noting it so perhaps it will help diagnose the issues. I noticed lower postings than normal in the marketplace over the last 24 hours... it's causing people to give up on trying to use CG.

If you need a set of "outside" user eyes, PM me to set up a time, we can set up a communication channel and I can provide live feedback in real time to assist diagnosis. Sometimes that's the best way to do pest control on the buggers!

this website gets slower and slower every time i open it. at this point it doesn't even load up anymore. not a wifi or connection issue; i have tried multiple wifi connections, locations, and devices.

It's obvious that people's patience is wearing thin if they even have any left. Those people that suggested take a break and then come back and try it again only to always return to the same issue will eventually just disappear altogether. I certainly don't have to tell the overlords this, but at some point calguns will cease to exist if this is how the website is going to operate on a daily basis moving forward

I just became a contributor and now I can't bump my classified thread or even post a new one, I get a DB error.


I guess that's what I get for finally not being a freeloader.

I'm having issue login in and login out on some pages I'm logged out and when I try to log in I can't

Site has been unusable for me most of the time for a couple of months. I time out often waiting for a reply from calguns.net. Are we sure there isn't a DDOS attack occurring?

Didn't even log in last night, was terrible sluggish just now... seems to be getting worse not better.

DDOS is a legitimate question given it's not even possible to reach the CG site when one decides to click on in and try to do something...

I do think it's more likely there is a major problem with the server, causing it to be unable to reliablyu handle requests - almost seems like hardware that is failing and causing intermittent connection issues (ISP?) or there is something badly misconfigured on the software end.

Either way whoever is getting paid to keep the site up and running or provide SW/HW needs to make this a top priority, this has been going on for months and now seems to be death spiraling. There are people here willing to help, myself included (I've helped a few companies when mission critical "updates" went pear shaped over the years...).

I first noticed that my marketplace bumps wouldn't put my thread to the top. Then I noticed that my bump post wouldn't add to the reply count of the thread as well. I get the same behavior in any thread in any forum I post in. I also frequently get a database error when trying to reply or post a new thread, then when I go back to the thread my reply is there but it doesn't count towards the reply count and doesn't bring the thread to the top of the page.

This all started as soon as I became a contributor this week. Any ideas how to fix it or become an un-contributor until this is fixed?
