Connecting to Calguns is an ongoing issue. I notice my new threads are not showing up in my CP listed subscriptions.

Is the system still being tweaked? Any idea when the system will be back to 100% operational?

The upcoming major vBulletin software upgrade hopefully will fix all of the recent serious issues.

Yup, still pretty awful.
This was going on a year ago and took months to resolve.
I hope it doesn't take this long again.
Mabye CalGuns has become to large to manage with the current team.

Are you saying that these performance issues occurred prior to the server migration as well?

Frustration, long delays on logging in, spotty performance. Enough problems that don't seem to go away or get better with time. If you want to fix the site, maybe it's time to think outside the box. It's gotten to the point of not wanting to bother with the site any longer. Get someone or some organization that knows how to fix the problems with delays and lost contact.

Performance, usability, and reliability issues like this are driving the death of forums in general and causing entire communities to become dependent on Big Tech platforms such as Reddit and Discord.

I could fix these issues almost overnight. There are two major issues: the host server is STILL underpowered to handle the mysql DB load. The mysql character set issue has nothing to do with DB performance. The second issue is the outdated VBulletin version which is now a serious security threat to all users. It needs to be migrated to a current version or to another modern platform like Xenforo. Kes either doesn't have the time, desire, skills, or resources (one or several of those) to fix it permanently. He mentioned earlier that he was going through some family stuff, which everyone can understand. I'd offer to buy the site and take care of it properly (I have the means and skills), but I doubt that is in the cards.

What would it cost to fix the problem? What steps need to be taken? What can the members do to help? I can only sympathize with the issues Kes faces. It would be great if we could work together to take some of that weight off his shoulders.
