Soooooooo I seems either device connected via wifi to Comcast is slow. I'm getting the "took to long to load"
Eta its only this forum that's taking a long time to load.

FWIW, painfully slow at 10:25. Spectrum internet, tried both tablet and PC. Both slow. Tablet timed out.

As an 'Helpful Hint From Heloise,' before clicking "Submit Reply," copy your post.

If the 'time out' comes up with the 'Reload' option, hit Reload and your post will be there virtually every time.

If the 'time out' comes up without the 'Reload' option, hit the Back arrow and paste your post back into the submission box and hit Submit Reply again.

In short, there are workarounds for many of these problems. Yes. It's in pain in the patoot and shouldn't 'need' to be done. But, it's a way not to 'lose' your post.

'Insanely bad' hasn't quite been reached. Well, at least not consistently. However, I'm not sure how much longer anyone other than diehards or the addicted or the obsessed or the discouragingly lonely or the attention seekers are going to continue dealing with all this.

Kestryll is working on it and I have a certain level of faith. But, I'm also aware that 'new' problems are likely to crop up with the software 'update' and that's unlikely to enhance the 'cool' of many already frustrated members.

Just like this page actually taking quite a few hours to update so I could see Librarian's post (#881), despite the rest of the site 'working' at some level for me.

While "insanely bad" may be slightly overstated, I think relative to the performance of other forums that have no major technical faults, the current load times pretty much qualify for that description.

Terrible response time at 1000 through 1215 today.

... and at 1249 it's fine.

... 1934 is also fine.

... 2122 is good ... and then at 2128 it's back to 45+ seconds for a page load. I'm a jinx.

problems posting a new for sale add in handguns marketplace

The site seems to accept my login name and password, I?ve been a member for some years now.
But when I jump to ?private firearms sales? and click on forum tools: start new thread in order to advertise a handgun for sale it keeps redirecting me to a page which says I am denied access.
It then prompts me to login again.
I do so using my login name and same password as before, but nothing happens.
What?s going on here?
I am using Chrome.
Should I use a different browser?
I?ve had several sales and trades via Calguns, I don?t understand these recent site navigating problems.

Leaving feedback for a buyer, the deal url kept saying invalid. I was C&Ping from the address bar. Only thing that worked was removing the s after http ? not sure why.

In a nutshell, the site was moved to a new host. The software which runs the site is outdated and is not playing well with the new host's software/hardware. Kestryll had some issues which delayed updating the site's software, but is now in the process of doing so. How long that'll take and how universally effective it will be in resolving the problems... ... no one seems to know.

Maybe someone with actual authority and more official insight can provide more specifics; but, that's the gist of it as I understand it. There is no panacea of browser or timing or work around as even Librarian is currently looking for 'patterns,' which are what his posts are about at the top of this page.

The site takes a very long time to open. Once open it takes a very long time after clicking on a topic to load and open.
It was good on 11/6/23, very poor before that and is now back to very slow to open.
