There seems to be many knowledgeable people here with experience with databases that can help and provide assistance. If there are extra costs that requires a move to the new server, maybe we can have a one time fundraise. THis is a great site for the community at large and hopefully we do not lose members due the the issues. The loading up today at 1112 is good but still got an error deleting a message.

That post above if mine is from my s23 ultra on T-MOBILE and that spleed is good. This is when I realized that Calguns is slow on the Amazon 10.5" 11th edition fire tablet with Comcast wifi from home.
But I'm still getting the ? Instead of ' in posts or ? Inside of a black diamond.

Unless there is prior notification (day) of this upgrade transpiring, considering the various reasons the site can't be accessed, I'm sure some of us die hards will continue doing what we have been doing all year.

When I got the site down "due to maintenance..." error I thought for sure a fix was at hand. After the third "due" info, business as usual.

Fear not, I'm not going to abandon ship

The site has been freezing up on me for the past week now, it starts out alright for the first couple clicks and then it stops responding.

As an 'Helpful Hint From Heloise,' before clicking "Submit Reply," copy your post.

If the 'time out' comes up with the 'Reload' option, hit Reload and your post will be there virtually every time.

If the 'time out' comes up without the 'Reload' option, hit the Back arrow and paste your post back into the submission box and hit Submit Reply again.

In short, there are workarounds for many of these problems. Yes. It's in pain in the patoot and shouldn't 'need' to be done. But, it's a way not to 'lose' your post.

'Insanely bad' hasn't quite been reached. Well, at least not consistently. However, I'm not sure how much longer anyone other than diehards or the addicted or the obsessed or the discouragingly lonely or the attention seekers are going to continue dealing with all this.

Kestryll is working on it and I have a certain level of faith. But, I'm also aware that 'new' problems are likely to crop up with the software 'update' and that's unlikely to enhance the 'cool' of many already frustrated members.

Just like this page actually taking quite a few hours to update so I could see Librarian's post (#881), despite the rest of the site 'working' at some level for me.
