WOW, after trying all day, I got back on. The site had been working well for me but then yesterday nothing. The stats say that there are nearly 6000 online with less than 100 members. Is this part of the problem?

The fact people can't get on here has tanked this site for us who want to sell/buy guns.

After the site being a little better for awhile, it seems to be regressing and getting worse.

Because they 'oiled' it with WD40.

There are times I can't log in, but I can log in at some point every day.

First time I visit the site in months. It’s working super fast for these ten minutes I’ve been on. I was thinking the site is back! But then I read the comments on here and I see the site is still broken.

When the site works it’s pretty good. But I have days where I can’t connect at the times I try. It’s sort of like the old days when you corresponded by letter with multiple day gaps waiting for a response.

Its so temperamental these days you never know if youll be able to get on.

If I get a message and am able to reply I just leave my phone number knowing the recipient may not be able to get it for a few days

I'm noticing, so far today, each click has brought a page being displayed and not a 504 response, even during time now that historically all I'd get was a 504. Keep that up for 24 hours straight and a lifetime membership will be the result, as per my prior promise. The resource deserves to be saved.

Maybe they could try stuffing some Viagra in the server floppy disk drive.

It doesn't seem random. The site consistently breaks whenever I try to go to the Inbox in the Message Center, and stays broken presumably until someone manually restarts the services. Not just when accessing the site from the same browser, but on subsequent attempts to reach the site logged out from a different physical device and origin IP.

I'd guess that the private message database for a subset of users has some sort of malformed subject/message data stored in it (or maybe someone downgraded a dependency to an old version that does not have UTF-8 support or has some sort of other encoding issue), and when those users try to open their Inbox, the backend services puke and can't recover. If the message DB was sanitized or wiped entirely, I'd be willing to bet that the site would be back up to it's middling performance, at least long enough to track down the actual issue and address it.
