Are you educated on this type of stuff? if yes, I wonder why they haven't reached out to you for help. What really frustrates me about all this is the fact that Kes just stopped giving meaningful updates and seems to have abandoned the site.

He did surface to post this back in December, although it doesn’t sound all that hopeful from the hosting company.

You're right, there should have been more communication. It doesn’t excuse it but I’ve been buried with new responsibilities at work and frankly somewhat overwhelmed with trying to sort things out here.

The issue with the server is database related, there is something causing timeouts and failures. I have a hundred or more error log files on the server in the file manager and have numerous error emails.
The main issue is I have no knowledge of SQL databases and very limited familiarity with using the root access on this server.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere I was fortunate enough that for years on end we were hosted by Calgunner mcubed. While we did pay for the hosting an amazing benefit was his knowledge and expertise. I would usually find out about a problem when I was told ‘This happened, I fixed it so it’s all good’.
This meant I never had to learn the backend of the server which now leaves me stuck.

I’ve gone through the support system for the hosting company and while they have helped they also told me this is beyond their normal purview. I’d have liked for them to be able to help but I appreciate that they were honest and told me it was not within their expertise. The support representative said I would need to speak to a database administrator or analyst they weren’t sure which.

He actually did reach out to him, a couple of years ago... see UPDATE: TUES. 9/17/2024 - SERVER REPAIRS ARE & HAVE BEEN IN PROGRESS!!

A 'final' update was provided, not on this site, but the 'other' site (raccoon's), then he just kinda 'disappeared;' most presuming that he was either busy at his own work or that the 'fix' wasn't as readily to be had as was presumed. (There was also the fact that Kestryll was going through a tough period at that point.) From 11/23/24...

Member DrJonesUSA was last online here on the forum on 09/28, about 2 months ago. His last post here was 09/18. On the CaGuns forum, he last posted on 10/24 (a month ago) that he was overloaded with his own business and his family; he hasn't been online there since that post.

Kestryll, the Head Janitor, was last online here on 11/21, two days ago. His last post here was on 9/10, over two months ago.

...The last word we saw was that the site fixes were beyond Kestryll's ability to handle and he has allowed DrJonesUSA and his team access. Unfortunately, we found the update saying they were only working on it part time on another site and there is some... 'sensitivity'... to linking to anything in relation to that site as many members, both here and on that site, feel it is a direct competitor to this one; not to mention the self-described 'guerilla marketing' campaign that site's owner engaged in on this site. (That individual has since 'scrubbed' the majority of his posts from this site.)

Kestryll has since then enlisted yet another member's aid, but the last we heard (or that I saw) in direct relation to his assistance was on 12/17/2025...

I have some log files to go through. I’ve not had spare time recently to devote as work has kept me very busy the last few months.

I’m hoping to have some downtime this next few weeks to look into this further.

The site itself didn't go down for "12 hours."

I was posting about 6 hrs. ago and if you look at the posts of others, posting has been going on all afternoon and that includes Librarian on his own thread in OT.

There does seem to be minimal posting outside of OT this afternoon, but note that I said 'minimal,' not none.

It's one of the 'mysteries' of the problems; i.e., why some can't reach the site while others have time stamps on their posts indicating they could during a given time period.

Same for me. Mid mornings on Weekdays (like right now at noon) then again later in the evenings after 7pm
