You have a point, but you're wrong regarding a number of things.
First, Kestryll has been running this site for about 20 years. Thus, he's not 'inexperienced.'
Second, the update was not done by choice. The host went out-of-business and the new host demanded an update to the software. We've been warned, for years, that any update would cause the types of problems we've been seeing. Why hadn't the software been updated? Because iTrader only worked with the iteration of software we were using and Kestryll maintained it to mollify a notable portion of the membership who relied on it.
Third, he initially tried an update, found not enough RAM, added more RAM, and then found it didn't fix the 'congestion' problem. He acknowledged that whatever the fix turns out to be is beyond his, personal technical abilities. He did bring in a professional and his team. However, some things have gone 'sideways' with that, at least from the membership perspective. Initially, we were told by the pro that things would be working in short order. Then he began equivocating. His next big update wasn't even on this site, but one where many question and have questioned why it would be made there. Since then, there have been rumors, theories, innuendos, and speculation as to whether the pro and his team are even still doing anything. We were told they were only working on it part time and voluntarily; i.e., without pay.
As a result, the biggest 'mistake' many see is tied to a communication shut down from Kestryll. Many have convinced themselves that means he's 'abandoned' the site; but, that indicates a lack of simply checking his profile page, which indicates his last activity was 6/23/25, two days ago. If one proceeds on the assumption that Kestryll is signing in as Kestryll, that means he's still checking in, at least.
We've been told that the moderators have been hampered by technical impacts to their 'moderator board,' meaning their powers have been negatively impacted. Yet, we also know there has, in fact, been a certain amount of moderation, though nothing like the norm. There was a certain amount of communication on that score from a couple of the moderators and there has been been clear and obvious steps taken, in several instances, which indicate that a certain 'variability' is present in terms of what powers are available and when. But, even the moderators have pretty much discontinued communication.
Some, such as myself, feel that the lack of communication stems from a d***** if you do, d***** if you don't feeling and there is evidence for that. Initially, Kestryll was regularly communicating regarding the change. However, he was met with a constant barrage of complaints, demands, criticisms, etc. as regards why things weren't 'instantly' working again. Much of that stemmed from a couple of things. First, there were those who simply didn't grasp and failed to learn that any migration through several iterations of software wasn't going to be 'instantly' flawless and that errors not only in performance, but in terms of the readability of the site, by both the software and users, was going to be impacted and that corrections weren't simply a matter of pushing a button and done. You see, the primary agenda/goal was to maintain the accessibility/readability of the historical threads, meaning a maintenance of the knowledge this site contains.

However, at this point, there is almost no one who is going to take that individual member's word on the subject given what he has done in his campaign to gain access and/or control behind the curtain and the fact that he's openly declared his disdain for much of the content on this site and how he'd (ahem) 'archive' much of what is here, along with the limitations he places on what is allowed to be contributed to his own site.
