Looking for an FFL dealer in the Burbank area for an off-roster interstate intrafamilial transfer. (father to son, Alabama to California, glock 21 gen4)

I've called 4 different shops and heard 4 different responses ranging from "yes no problem" to "no off roster transfers period" to "don't use an FFL just fill out the form on the DOJ website". I've also called and email the CA-DOJ but haven't heard back yet.

My understanding was that I'd have to pay DROS, sales tax and whatever fee the FFL charges but that it was legal. I wasn't 100% clear on if my father should send it himself or through his FFL. Now i'm sorta unclear on all of it lol and am worried about doing something illegal. any help would be appreciated as well as a referral to an FFL that will do this if it's legal.

    thanks
(hope this was the right place to post this)

You should post a new thread. It has to go through a FFL, regardless of what the CA DOJ might say due to Federal law. It is transferred as exempt, with documentation. If it is a gift, then there is no sales tax.

I'm looking for an FFL in the Fresno area that understands the intrafamily transfer from out of state for non rostered gun. I've called 5 without any luck. I have read "the best of" on here and it explains it very well. Any help would be appreciated.

I have done a couple of the forms in the past to register a gun. I received a gun from a relative and brought it home and sent in the form and had another gun I bought out of state with my C&R that I registered that way and never went through a dealer. I am curious if it could be mailed from a relative out of state. It seems like the transfer is exempt (federally legal) so the paperwork is only for registration so do it first (for overkill) and then send gun?

While it can be done, it does not make it legal. Federal law requires residents of two different states to go through a FFL in the state of the buyer.

With a C&R handgun, CA law allows for filling out the form when you come back.

If it is from out of state, it is NOT Federally legal to transfer it without going through a FFL, either in person or by shipping it.

I've read through the posts, but I am still not clear on how to do this:
I have a pistol I am trying to sell. Someone from out of town (but in CA) wants to buy it.
How do I ship the pistol so that they can buy it? Does it need to go from an FFL here to an FFL there? Or do I send it straight to their FFL after receiving payment? What forms do I have to include?
Sorry if this is repetitive, but I did not see any posts that clarified this so I could understand it.
                    Thanks.

ISO an FFL near N. San Diego to accept a shipment from a private party for transfer. I bought a rifle from a fellow Calgunner. Thank you.

I use to highly recommend Cal-Tac, and I have sent many people there, however I will not be dong this anymore.

Now that they have their name out there, they charge $50 ($25 for LEO) to receive a gun, and truth be told, I am 100% fine with that.
However it is their customer service or lack there of that has cause me to lose all respect for them. I have since taken all my business elsewhere and will recommend others to do the same from here on out. Truly sad as I really liked them until they started treating me the way they did. This has been based on MULTIPLE occasions, not just one bad encounter. I had sent a lot of business their way as I recommended them to everyone I came in contact with that's into guns.

Cal-Tac, I was a fan, but now I am really disappointed with you.
