My 2 cents - I'd like to see an FFL only forum.
1. FFLs are not perfect and sometimes get it wrong, but I have a higher level of confidence in an answer from a FFL then someone who isn't.
2. I agree that privacy would also be a nice feature. Is that really possible though? Guess I'm being paranoid but it seems that if DOJ wanted in, they could figure out a way.
3. The arguments between FFls and non-FFLs who think they know better how to run a business is sometimes amusing but not especially productive.
I do see a lot of value in keeping this current forum as "Ask a FFL". Before obtaining a 01 FFL I found this forum helpful. It was especially useful in finding answers to uncommon situations that many FFLs never come across. At the time I had an 03 and I found most local shops really didn't know the C&R rules. Though this forum I was occasionally able to educate a local FFL on what they could legally do in regards to C&R firearms.
I also agree that the "FFL only" forum should not include 03's. That is a totally different animal and as some have mentioned, they do have the C&R forum and will have the "Ask a FFL" forum if this change is made.
I also have not found the "fflsonly" forum especially helpful. As others have pointed out, its hard to determine what is applicable in CA on that forum. And heaven forbid you ask what someone thinks is a "dumb question" there. Better have a thick skin.
Thanks for considering this.
