I only work at a gun shop and have an 03 FFL but I really like the fact that this subforum is open to all. I'd prefer to keep things the same because this forum provides insight into situations that are out of the norm. There was a situation regarding an ammo background check that I resolved from a random reading of a topic on this forum.

I understand a concern for privacy but if that's the case then posting your own FFL info on a publicly monitored forum may not conducive towards that goal nor does mentioning information about yourself that could be identified if someone took the time and effort to try to identify you.

I think if FFLs have a concern that should be handled privately, just PM regular users for this sub-forum. Leave any other concern for public view just so that those who may be curious or those that who don't necessarily meet the criteria of an licensee holder can potentially educate themselves with potential issues pertaining to CA DOJ.

If you need a question answered about a situation you should get it from your FFL holder.
Not some Blog post on the net.

It is not your Lic on the line. Your FFL holder should have the answer or they are the ones that should research and supply you with the information they are comfortable with

FYI, there is a private forum for licensed FFLs only (not 03) that is not visible to the public, ever:

A great tool for FFLs and they tolerate just about anything you want to post. No rules..

Wouldn't this depend on what the exact purpose of this forum is? If you can define the purpose of this forum, chances are the answers will be obvious or close to it.

That’s in general. This forum would be more geared for CA FFLs. It is Calguns.

My concern, as is the case with most of us, are FFL situations that arise within a CA based retail setting. I really don't care about New Jersey of Nebraska problems and the "FFL Only" is geared nationally. A CA, "01 only" site is sorely needed.
Again, if a site could be created that is "password" (and of course, with the appropriate FFL number, etc,) protected, that would eliminate non-qualified persons...I think.

So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.

Understood, was just providing the link for info since it's useful for all licensees. It's also good for a few laughs.

I've gotten some inventory from some of those guys also. Not recently, but when KSGs first came out, for example, I was able to source them from some dealer on the forum that had excess and they weren't popular in their particular city/town.

Sometimes they don't simply because it is new to them or sometimes some other FFL in CA has encountered my situation and posted on this forum for advice.

I work in a small shop where we have 1 person who handles all the DOJ and FFL related issues as well as other things. We have a proper chain of command so it isn't like I can't go to anyone else but that person and if it is something that involves something that may affect a person's license then I'll do a quick double check with my superior.

However, my preference is to gain knowledge independent of me robbing that person of time and effort to explain the nuances of situations. What I like about this subforum is that I can gain some knowledge and insight that otherwise I wouldn't have gained without being at my shop 24/7.
