    FFL Only Forum

This seems like a good idea and one desired by our FFL members, there are several ways to do it so let's define some criteria first.

Commercial FFLs only or include 03 FFLs?

Visible to read for all but only FFLs can post/visible in the index but only viewable by FFLs/completely hidden unless you're an FFL/other?

Rename this existing forum 'Ask an FFL' for public issues and questions?

How to verify that someone is an FFL holder?

Any other options, questions or ideas?

Commercial FFL only not publicly seen / No o3 / verify by FFL or CFD sent to a MOD /

I like the rename "ask an FFL"

03 may want a similar place to chat but they have different needs for info

I think you've pretty much nailed it. I would keep the criteria simple as too many options would complicate matters.
That said, an 03 is pretty much a self-serving enterprise. I think their questions and answers could easily be handled in the "Ask an FFL" forum. It is we 01's that tend to run into odd ball situations that are more appropriately be answered by other 01's.

Give 01 their own area, 03 has the C&R forum. I would like to be able to read about the law problems. Also put it into the contribution section.

Good idea ask an ffl. Posters should also include locale if asking for services. To many ask for services and then leave ffls to guess their location.

I like renaming this forum to "Ask an FFL".

New forum should be visible from the main site that new members know that one exists, but should only be available to Commercial FFL / CFD Holders to read content or post.

FFLs can be verified through ATF FFL EZ Check, I'm not sure how a CFD can be verified by a non-FFL holder since CFLC is the only way that I know of to validate against the centralized list.

Have the FFL holder go into CFARS and print out the employees under the ffl. That can be submitted with the FFL.

Inform they they are NOT to use the sight. If a problem arises, have them inform you and you broach the topic to the FFL Forum...

The site could (I think) be password sensitive so only the FFL uses their own password.

I don't think EZ Check will be enough.

I have downloaded a list of Oregon FFLs from ATF - in excel, it has all the info EZ Check wants, as well as the rest of the license number, name, address, etc.

One who might wish to impersonate an FFL might do a similar download.

                        Make two new category:

                        1. "Ask an FFL" - replace current FFL

                        2. "FFL only" - participating must be a contributor, display FFL only on contributor section and not public wide.

Every 01 or 07 has a CFD letter. (For verification)

I’d prefer a private forum only because some guys really do ask questions that should be answered in a private setting. We know DOJ monitors things here and it would be nice to give the ability for some to ask questions for situations that they may not know without telling the whole world that they don’t know.

Then there’s issues on how best to deal with customers too in a private setting without getting consumers here all riled up about how FFLs should run their business.

This would be a great service for CA FFLs IMHO. Thank You Calguns and Paul for considering this.
