Very short answer to your thread title question: No.

I'd run the plates, give it the quick once-over for any obvious mechanical violations, but as long as you weren't driving like an idiot or look like a gangster (both classes of people who tend to get stopped a lot no matter what they're driving) I wouldn't bother lighting it up.

Sounds good to me! I don't fit any of those profiles, I drive like a granny for the most part. I only wear my hat sideways when i'm at the range
I'd really like some tint up front, but I don't want to deal with the trouble it can cause.

Another one of my cars has really dark tint and it doesn't get nearly as hot as a car without tint. I never fully understood the tint laws regarding the front windows. But rules are rules, you gotta pay when you get caught.

They're actually very, very balanced cars to drive. They are one of the few USA made vehicles to take the twisties well.

The Charger utilized by CHP actually outperforms the CV in that aspect and overall.

Now the new Taurus SHO. Wow, that's a monster of a vehicle.

This isn't my car, but I have an opportunity to pick up a very clean low mileage (50k) crown vic that needs body minor work. (I work in the Collision Industry) I never really planned to get one, after the test drive I realized it was a lot more comfortable and pulled a little harder than I was expecting. Not fast by any means but it moved and handled well for being as big and heavy as it is!

There are NO spotlights, no light bar, no cage and doesn't have any decals on it at all.

The car DOES have a pushbar, steelies with chrome center, antenna for 2m ham radio and legal tint (none on front two windows)

Would this be legal to use as a horn? Only having this tone and no others.

FYI. I purchased a 2000 CVPI that had 72k miles on it and at the time I was a CEO. I made the purchase though because it was a fun car to drive and it seemed to float along rather than allow me to feel the contour of the road beneath me. The 2000 Taurus also had a nice feeling to it, but the CVPI was just nicer. Mine was metallic blue (dark) and had tinted windows, push bar, upgraded hoses, steelies as well as the PI badge on the back. It also had cruise control and a plush interior. I ended up hunting down a spare tire and rim for the trunk, but it has a lot of nice things going for it. It is one of the nicer cars that I have owned.

Now for the bad.
Cops tend to run AC all the time. Hey they are stuck in their cars all day long so why not? My AC prolly needs a recharge but that is no biggie. The major issue that I have had with mine was the COP in the engine. These can be expensive so when all of a sudden it starts running like crap and throws a CEL and it comes back to a COP, go to EBAY and look for them, THere is a guy selling them for $9.85 free shipping and lifetime or very long warranty. Sure beats the $25-$37 in the stores. Once you have it replaced, back to business. My rear window regulator also broke and the window came off the track. Easy fix too, but that is really ALL that I have had happen to mine. In a good month I can get 19+ MPG, on a typical day I get 15-17 MPG. THAT is the only thing I do not care about. But yes, I joke because there is ample trunk space (enough to stuff a whole family there) and people like me can load up a few guns and everything you need for the range and just keep it in the trunk. Good stuff...

The bad news is that people on the freeways at night tend to be afraid of you coming up behind them. The car is a GREAT moving roadblock at times. But when I have to move it can move.

ANY LEO that has to drive one should be glad that they have such a well built vehicle that holds so much and performs so well. At least mine does. I want to sell it for a Hybrid 4wd Escape now since I no longer do CEO, but damn, it is a nice ride and plenty of space in the front and back... It is hard to get rid of it.
