I have't read the entire thread, nor do I intend to, the first few posts covered the legal definitions, which is you ask me are pretty straight forward.

From my experience, on one of my old cars I had my front windows tinted, pretty damn dark at that. I was pulled over for speeding by CHP, and at the same time cited for the front windows being tinted. The officer said that most people think its a safety thing for LEO, which he said is somewhat true but the real reasoning is that if you cannot see through your windows at night, you can't clearly see a person or thing as you are in an intersection. It's true, and I can totally understand. With that said the officer also told me that if he can see through the window, tint or not, he and fellow officers usually don't give a crap about tint.

Join a police assoc or the 11-99... that should put a stop to the fix it's. Every vehicle I have ever owned has had limo tint all the way around, and a nice strip on the windshield. When you drive 100K miles a year it becomes very apparent why window tint is a good thing, it has it's advantages during the day and night.

Putting that sticker on your car also says "vandalize me" or "follow me home and shoot me". It really doesn't factor into my calculations as to whether or not I'm going to cite you. Most people with those stickers aren't LE, or even related to anyone in LE.

Might be easier to just buy two cars and fix one up and leave the other one stock.

I asked him if it was the $10 ticket or the $200 ticket and he said he doesnt know but he thinks its something like $20. He told me to go to the CHP office and show that its been corrected and on the ticket it does show correctable.

What do you guys think? $10 or $200? lol hoping for $10.

Ah ok if he gave me the non-correctable one then it would be the $200 ish bux?

EDIT: he was a really nice guy and looked like he was just following orders. He said he didnt want to give it to me but the department was on him for petty stuff.

This is all I got pulled over for Things like this were really rare about 5 years ago...

My ride is tinted up in the fronts, just not windshield.. not super dark, but dark enough, privacy is nice and it makes my car look good.

My front windows are tinted, not the windshield, and the tint is not very dark. Just enough to filter out the sun.

I have had skin cancer issues after two deployments out in the extreme sun every day, so my dermatologist at the VA recommended I tint my front windows to filter direct UV rays.

I have a letter from the VA in my glove box. Which I received after I got a ticket, on my birthday last year

thanks for the heads-up, what percentage were you using in the front to filter the rays?

I might just go with something like 45% or something to that degree, that way I wont be obvious about my tinted windows. RIght now I'm at 15% in the front and it can seem fairly dark at times.

I dont know the percentage. I do know that it is not so dark you cant easily see through it from the outside, and when night driving it doesnt impair my vision at all.

The guy who gave me a ticket was a commercial CHP guy (drives the pickup trucks and mans weigh stations).

Eh, no biggie. It was correctable and all I did was send a copy of my VA letter in with the ticket.
