Did I claim it was? I do not question what you do so do not question what I do. Sorry you seem to be offended by someone taking pride in something they own.

I agree with you. I caused a raucus over this at my Station, got a few people p*&&ed off at me. Employees were finally told to put on front license plates, remove illegal tint and the Harley riders to have the proper mufflers etc., it came to employees being told not to bring out of compliant vehicles onto City property.

There should not be a double standard, but sometimes there is. I found I couldn't control other people. Life's not fair. I did my job as I saw fit.

But why over some petty insignificant issues? I mean come on now let's be honest here what harm does it do to have some light tint on the window or a muffler that may be a bit louder than stock. Who is it harming? No one at all that's who. It is just more California BS laws being forced upon it's citizens.

I know a few LEO's that get off on writing stupid tickets like this and do not like doing the hard police work. I guess there are just some that cannot do anything else.

Not implying that how you are by the way.

There is a cop who comes into our shop about once a week, on his truck, he has double limo all the way around, tinted front window, and a thick visor on the front.

Sometimes he acts like a dick as a person, but I have talked to him about it before, and he says he disagrees with the law too, and he will never write a ticket for windows. Not to say he wont stop you to see what you have going on inside, but he wont write tickets. Not that it makes a difference if some guy and some cop are doing something illegal, it still doesn't change the law.

Its just nice to see that people don't have some ridiculous double standards. I never knew what came of it, but there was a huge uproar about the police officer's personal vehicles having illegally tinted windows, yet they would cite just about anyone who had any tint on their windows. This is in a small town where summer temps can reach into the 120's for about 4 months, so it is not an unreasonable thing to have windows tinted.

If you read any of my previous posts, you'd see that I used common sense (although my common sense and yours likely differ) when citing, I let go tinting at 40% VLT and above and since you brought up the loud muffler issue, I'm talking about Harleys that set off car alarms as they pass by or sound like a radial engine aircraft.

And thank you for the "Not implying that how you are by the way"

Since you don' know if I'm the type who cannot do anything else or was the type that was first through the door in a critical incident.

One of my neighbors is a deputy. He has really dark tint on both the driver side and passenger side windows of his truck. So it must be legal!

I would like to see some vehicles cited for their car alarms going off all the time. There was a guy on my block who's car alarm used to go off every time I drove my truck by, it wasn't a super lout exhaust, it was all CA legal.

Some people choose to have their alarms go off when there is a slight breeze, and it is just noise pollution.

I moved from Southern California to northern California and was immediately stopped for tinted door glass.
I removed the tint and went to the CHP to have it inspected. Funny the CHP officer that stopped me was just transferred from Southern CA.
I understand following the law and I wish LEO understood how hard that is. You go to class and study the different laws and receive updates and legal briefs on the law daily. Us old wore out citizens have to hope we read in the paper or see on TV a change in the law or we don't know we are being criminals.
I would guess if I brought you to my place and tested you on the laws applicable to ranching or farming you might have a little trouble knowing if you violated a law or not. If you have 10 knot winds and you notified the AG department you were going to spray today what is the maximum speed of the tractor allowed with the tip nozzle you have installed?
If I willfully violate a law get your bad attitude on and proceed. If it is some obscure law to meet PC for a stop be pleasant and act like a human being. Rest assured I will see you in a ditch needing a pull in a snow storm or I will have the tractor you need to mow the easement you just got a ticket on from the Cal Fire for weeds. Or the herbacide to controll that invasive weed that you were cited for. Or the ranch that buys your kids entry in the fair for three times the meat value.
We are honest hard working people out here just like you in blue.

Yeah I hear you loud and clear on the Harley pipes. Personally I have no issue with it but i have heard some and thought dam is that loud. Makes my Mustang sounds like a Honda.

And like I said in a previous post as well, Not all but as in anything there are bad apples within everything.

I really do not care about light tints or other CS stuff unless the driver makes me care. How's that?

Why not worry yourself with real crimes? And while I understand that pulling someone over for tint may sometimes lead to something better. Just because someone has tint does not make them a bad guy. I just think you as LEO have bigger things you need to be worrying about.

Tell me..... what do you consider as a REAL crime?

Hmm let me see if i am smart enough to figure that out. How about Drug dealers, burlgaries, robberies, muggings, murder, drunk driver, child molester, wife beaters, petty theft, arson, street racing. Does that give you an idea of what a real crime is? I think those would fall into that category

You have to understand that the police ARE dealing with "real" criminals but on the occasional down times when there aren't "real" crimes happening, they deal with the more petty things like..... illegal window tint.

That's easy. Things that shouldn't be enforced or applied to them are not real crimes. Then you get complaints because you cruise all day without doing any work because "real" crimes aren't happening every minute.

Our community wants us to go after crimes which are not earth shattering. We are here to enforce all laws. Don't like the law? Take it up with your congressman or state assembly man.
