Can I modify my duty weapon?

I'm in the process of being LEO and I was wondering if I can modify my duty glock? Like new barrel, trigger, sights, also some ets magazines?

All depends on what your agency says.

That's the last thing you should be worried about right now though.

Your issued firearm will undergo many inspections during the academy.

I would recommend you not change anything out of the box.

That is, unless you like to run and do memo's...

Department policy will dictate modifications. Don't plan on any/many.

You really should worry about completing your process and becoming a officer first.
Then once your have completed your FTO and probation then maybe you can revisit this idea again..
Hopefully, by then you will have received your copy of department regulations and SOP..
You can also determine if your agency will allow you to modify your duty weapon or not.
Since it's a duty gun..the liability will fall upon the department and if you modify illegally then the liability will fall upon you as your department will wash their hands at you.. So good luck..

                  This thread is facepalm.

OP, a different way to ask that might yield information of use to you might be:
Does your department allow any modifications to duty weapons?

No one knows where you may be working, and I for sure wouldn't advertise it.
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

I don't understand why you would even want to change all that stuff out. you really want to start your career being "that guy" with the funny looking gun?

You might want to keep in mind that the testing you are about to take is where quite a few people wash out. Just like other's have said you need to focus on getting through the entire process before you start thinking of modifying anything. The very last thing you want to do is start messing around with department issued equipment.

Usually, you are not allowed to modify the department issued firearms. I was authorized to change the regular sights to night sights, but that was about it.

Yup, sounds like you are home free. I'd be looking for an invite from the fellas to go get a cup any day now.
