I used to think that way too. There is respect for the law here. As a result, there is order. Contrast that with CA.

When people routinely break little laws, it is only a matter of time until pure chaos ensues.

In my wildest dreams as a kid would I have never imagined a society (CA) where it was essentially legal to shoplift. Illegal immigration is encouraged. Bums and drug users roam the streets with no fear of punishment. I could go on and on.

Most people have become numb to the dystopia and it seems normal. CA is like hell on earth to me. The longer I am away, the clearer I can see it.

Is that because they're worried about DOJ undercover watching?

I left CA 7 years ago and currently live in Northern Virginia. I will always miss the good food in CA. No where else compares IMO.

I can never figure that out.
Regular is $3.65 to $4.25 in Carson.

Outside Clark County we have lots of Conservative voters, but we need more to move in and flip Nevada.

That's the biggest problem with leaving. Most places people flee to are food deserts.

These days I make my own food.

Grocery stores are cleaner and less kooks than CA.

The weather in the Bay Area anyway is not what it used to be. It used to be in the low to mid-70s every day and this month of July it has been in the low to high 90s every day. Growing up, you would get the marine layer come in every afternoon. We have not seen the fog in 2 years now. The climate has changed and it is much hotter.

That's probably a reason my wife doesn't want to leave. She's a full-blow foodie, makes the maniac chefs on "The Bear" look downright lackadaisical.

If I want american-style Chinese (like from a take out joint), she makes it fresh from scratch. Want an authentic Mexican meal? She makes 6 courses from scratch. I want a new york style cherry cheesecake? You guessed it, made from scratch. And so on. You name it, she'll look it up, go buy the ingredients, and make it the next day. Doubt that would as easy in Idaho. That's a sacrifice I'm happy to make. Her, probably not so much.

She loves cooking and baking like I love shooting and guns. ???I've tried to show her we'll get whatever delivered (to hell with ?the cost! ) and still be way ahead financially. We own our home, we'd be able to buy cash almost anywhere in Idaho and still have a healthy six-figure nest egg. ?????
                      ?
??????I just got to keep hammering at her about it. I don't want to go alone, but I may have no choice for the sake of my sanity, gut health and staying out of prison.

The recreational facilities that I wished for when I lived in socal for 40 years are so close now, it's unreal.

1/4 mile drag strip....10 miles away

Indoor shooting range with 100m rifle tubes underground...2.5 miles

Outdoor rifle, pistol, trap range...6.5 miles

                                Free Outdoor rifle range...20 miles
