Mostly true, didn't tell them squat about vehicles, here in New Mexico there are private companies that will handle just about anything the CA DMV does anyway. Got our "Real ID"s and registered and licensed the Subaru and F150 cost was about $450 for all. DL's are multi year, vehicles can also be multi year.
Our CA Tax man had to send them a snarky nastygram that we weren't CA Residents and for them to refund any withheld ST Taxes, plus had to fight with CA to get our 3% sales tax CA with held in escrow from property sale.Comment

No issues here after moving from TX back to CA, nor any hassles with moving to Idaho in the area of vehicles. When we moved back to CA, our next door neighbor was also from TX. I simply changed my TX address to neighbor's mother in TX. She mailed TX stickers for all 3 of our vehicles to the neighbor.
No hassles whatsoever with CA DMV. When we moved to Idaho, we notified TX DMV. Sent copies of ID registration and heard nothing.
True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

I vividly remember crossing over from California to Arizona. There was a billboard from an Arizona ammo distributor that said "Welcome to freedom" Arizona Ammo Company.
The feeling of California in the rear view mirror was a life changing moment for us. Congratulations.
Congrats, OP....now you can go into a gun store and buy the things you only saw in magazines.
I escaped 4 1/2 years ago to Texas. I too remember crossing the river on I-10. Stopped at that giant Flying J right over the river and instantly saved $.50/ gallon. I wonder how the stations in Blythe (or Needles for that matter) survive.
Also, since I had several out of state carry permits, I strapped on my trusty Kimber and prayed I would never have to go back again.AL

Thanks all. Been busy with the house. Don't really know how much stuff you have until you move. We thought we purged a lot of stuff but we are still overwhelmed.
Going to get my licenses tomorrow. Kind of had a snafu on that one. What I thought was my birth certificate turned out to be a second copy of our marriage license. I had to order a new copy of my birth certificate from LA County. It came today so tomorrow I'll be first in line.
Been cold here at night. I've lived all my life in LA so these 20 degree nights are a change for sure. But we love it. The decision to leave is tied for first place on the best decisions we've ever made list. Tied with homeschooling the kids from the start of their school years.Originally posted by TeddyBallgameI've never understood why any of our Constitutional rights are governed by the very institution they were put in place to protect us from.Originally posted by POLICESTATEIt is not wise to create criminals where none exist.
