From what I've seen posted here and have been told by a relative that workes at AAA, there is a specific form that has to be sent in directly to the Cali DMV to remove your vehicle from their system. I was also told it can be done on their website but it's not working for me. Go figure.

I have also been told that states don't always communicate with each other about change of registration/address issues.

And if you do not send the from to CA DMV what, if anything, will happen? I was also told by CA DMV that I needed to fill out their form. It is simpler just to throw their notices of the failure to pay CA registration fees in the trash. While I cannot speak for Nevada, those CA DMV notices just reminded me of how much I was saving by being an Idaho resident!

This. When I left I had my mail forwarded to me and any of these notices I got, I mailed back with "I moved out of state!" written in red Sharpie on them.

I mailed a form to DMV with the rear license plate enclosed, directly to the DMV office in Pittsburg Contra Costa County. No renew notice for regs fees this past august. Not sure how to deal with the wife's retirement check from the same county just yet. Welcome to free USA.

Being a very small town when my wife and I talk to the neighbors and they see our California license plates the very first question they ask after welcoming us is..... "What party are you?".
My wife will automatically give the boring response of "Republican". The neighbors smile and seem very relieved. I on the other hand tell them "We are the biggest threat to the democracy of this country. We're Ultra MAGA." Their eyes go super wide and a smiles go from ear to ear. They get super excited and extra hand shakes follow more welcomes.
It really is nice living in an area where your neighbors share the same beliefs you do. I'm not used to it but it's surely a welcome change.

Nice! Yerington is nice area. We went exploring through there back in 2018 during a trip to Bridgeport, CC, Bodie, etc. I don't know if you've ever been, but Bridgeport has a nice 4th of July celebration every year with a parade, a community pancake breakfast, an arts and crafts show, and fireworks. All the local folks and many out of towners come to check it out. It's still got a small town feel and vibe, not a big commercialized production. The USMC Mountain Warfare school and base sends out their color guard and fire truck, and all the area FD's bring a piece of apparatus.

Well, we made it. Snuck out of California when they weren't looking. Taking our tax dollars to a better state. We didn't go to far. In fact we just moved next door. As of last Friday we are Nevada residents and man does it feel good.

We found a little farming town up in the northern part. Yerington NV. Initially we wanted some land to go with the new (to us) place but we ultimately decided on a nice house in town. It's an older house built in 1965 but it's 2,200 sqft with 4 bed 2 bath and we love it. I've already met the local gun store owner and we hit it off rather well.

I know some of you expats are up this way. So give a shout and we can grab a beer and you can tell me all the finer points of the area.
