How well does it work? Is it gassy with the can?

I haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet. I am hoping to by next weekend. I will report how it works after I try her out.

That's good news. I am getting ready to purchase a 7.62 can in the next week or so, and am leaning towards that same one, but still looking at the Banish 30, and the Omega 300.

Im going to shoot it on my bergara 6.5 cm, scar 17, HK MR556, Colt m4a1 block II sopmod, and x95. It is a heavy suppressor. Stainless tube and stellite baffles. It's built for maximum durability and sound suppression. Trading off weight and size. It can be made shorter by removing the front adapt module which has three baffles in it I believe, and installing the front cap back on. You'll loose some sound suppression doing that but save some weight and length. It's belt fed rated and has no barrel length limitations. If i ever manage to roach it, Rugged will repair it for free. I can't imagine supersonic 300 bo would be any issue for the surge, regardless of barrel length on your rattler. However, a quick email to Rugged would likely get you an answer from the horses mouth.

Scout, if you are just now getting ready to buy, you'll likely do it via E-file form 4 (electronic file).
Mine were all paper form 4's before the new E-file system was in place. Picking up my stuff yesterday, there was a guy picking up a can he E-filed and it only took 4 months. I hope yours gets approved just a s quickly.

On the surge, just know you are trading weight and size for maximum durability and sound suppression. It's an older design, rugged's first. It's still a great can and one of the quietest on the market supposedly, just heavy because the tube is stainless steel. The welded in baffles are stellite.

I also really like Rugged's mounting system and muzzle devices, and the ability to convert them into "k" or short configuration. They're two cans in one. Their warranty is second to none also. Run over it with your truck, they don't care. So long as the serialized blast chamber section is intact, they'll rebuild it.

I've looked at it on their website before. It's expensive because it's modular. $1300-ish is a tough pill to swallow when my Resonator was 3 hundred and change. I could burn up 4 of them before I paid for a Surge.

I'd probably consider a smaller one because adding a lot of weight to a Rattler seems sub-optimal.

I also have a modular can. Sorta. I did it the Polish way, buying a Resonator and Resonator K. Both were under $700 I think.

They each have their attributes. The K is not as quiet but has few baffles and creates less back pressure, so it can go on my gassy, or short guns. The Resonator is quieter but with more back pressure, so it goes on bolt guns and less gassy AR's. When I was trying to decide which one to get, I realized the above, and took the calguns route and got both.

Street price on the surge is around $990, but I hear what your saying. I wanted a one and done rifle can that'll last through my grandchildrens life. If light weight is your goal, the surge isn't for you I'm afraid.

Oh I imagine hahaha. We have the Idaho automatic weapons collectors assoc here and I go to most of their shoots. Holy crap do those dudes burn through a mountain of ammo.
