Again, it's been a while (2004 or so), but the MP5SD 300 round interval (if that's right) was for the weapon, the suppressor wasn't designed to be opened or cleaned. You'd unscrew it from the barrel, then tap/blow out any loose fouling, make sure there wasn't any crud on the threads, then wipe the outside down.

They made some sort of cleaning jig that threaded into the end of the suppressor and you'd use that to clean the barrel ports and threads. It looked like one of those brushes they sell to clean car battery terminals.

I know that if you let it go too long, it could be difficult to get the suppressor unscrewed. It would take two guys to disassemble (one to hold the gun, another to twist the suppressor haha!!).

ETA: I'm sure there are pics on the net, but when we were demoing the weapons, the HK Rep has a cutaway MP5SD to show us, including the suppressor. Very unique design. And that design was from the late 60's/early 70's.

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
    Come on...what harm??

Ah, the pipe brush cleaning tool for the SD barrel. Made one.

I was thinking more about The Dip for the can. I just wouldn't know how to get rid of that nasty solvent afterward.

I think Silencer Shop did a youtube on cleaning with a sandblaster, but of course with separate baffles.

Yeah, but if you do it outside and the soda just falls on the ground, it doesn't hurt anything, right?

Hahaha, that is smart! What do oil recycling outfits do with that used oil?

Do you have the soda blaster go inside the suppressor to clean in between the baffles? If I can find the correct attachment for my sandblaster cabinet, can use other mild abrasives like walnut shells, or glass beads?

I used my sodablaster inside my shop - ONCE and never again. The residue from the blaster spread all over the basement that is next to my shop but separated by a wall. I had dust particles for weeks afterwards kind of like how when you go to the beach you have sand that seems to get over everything. I now blast outside on the cement and then wash it off with water afterwards. The grass in the area does not seem effected by it so I just keep doing it.

Some pretty cool stuff in this thread. I'll see what I can dig up to post from my little collection. After a decade + in AZ, I have a few.

My Rem 870 SBS 12" with Salvo can. Great for home defense, clay tossing with buds, deer (with slugs) and rabbits. I removed two of the baffles from the Salvo and 39" nose to tail makes it handy for most everything. A little nose heavy, but gotta work out more! My girlfriend even likes it since it's not "too loud"!

Was it much louder with two fewer baffles?

Still seems hearing safe at the 10" length instead of 12".
