Does anyone have any recommendations for something to put a hot suppressor in for transport. Maybe I'm overthinking this...my first can should get out of NFA jail relatively soon (fingers crossed) so this is new to me...

Basically I'm thinking what do I do if I take a brake from work, go shooting for a bit, but something comes up and I need to zip back to work ASAP. I imagine I can take it off with a welding glove easily enough but what do I put it into?

Would it change things or provide other options if I simply leave it on the gun? It'll be a Q Thunder Chicken on an MCX Rattler, so much of the suppressor will be overlapped with the hand guard.

I just dismount the can and put it on a hard surface, then run the cooler into it. Much quicker than waiting for it to cool naturally.

Friend of mine had a S&H SD conversion with the holes in the barrel. I don't know if it was H&K stuff or someone made it in the U.S. This was over 20 years ago so I would guess it was real H&K stuff. It turned supersonic ammo into subsonic so we know it had a drilled barrel.

It was a damn quiet setup if you were more than 5 feet away. If you were shooting it you could hear quite a bit of port pop, but it was still hearing safe.

Nice to know the R9 sounds good, but nobody has done a metered test that I've seen. It's frustrating that Silencer Shop has stopped testing, because buying is just all guesswork.

Nomex pouches are made, but they're expensive, over a hundred bucks. You could get a silicone oven mitt and stick the can in there, and get a second mitt to cover the protruding end.

How does that setup sound? That's a really short barrel.

Does the taper on the can match the taper on the SIG?

In another life I used to race cars a little. By rule you had to wear a fireproof suit, and nomex was the dominant material. Nomex is pretty good, but it's main attribute is it doesn't burn. It still lets heat come through to some degree.

There were always new high tech materials being introduced, and I was in a race shop when one of them came out. They were doing a cool demo - you put on a glove made of the material, which was impressive because it was really thin and in an open knit, and they held a lit lighter under your hand, flame fully touching the glove. It didn't even feel warm. Wish I could remember the name of it.
