Navy working uniform. Blue camo?

eh, swede (sp?) boots are overrated, and only authorized for shore duty. I still shine my regular boots and just go on with life.

the NWU pants arent any harder to get off than the utility pants were, and might even be a little bit easier due to the material differences.

regardless, the NWU is much more comfortable than the utilities......by leaps and bounds.

I don't get it first the marines will not share then the army goes to ACU that now its looking to replace then the USAF goes to ABU like that is so much different then ACU and now the Navy has completely lost its mind. At least ACU does an ok job what is the Navy thinking about going with blue?

standard shipboard colors are grey, black, white. with the pattern being what it is, if you get a speck or 2 of paint on the uniform, it now isnt completely trashed and requiring replacement. Our utility uniform was supposed to be a working uniform, but they wanted it inspection ready at all times, and any kind of stain on them = unserviceable. this uniform hides those colors better, is more comfortable, and less maintenance (no creases or ironing).

I like the blue digis and I'm a corpsman. They are much more comfortable than the utilities and if you're doing a security duty, they integrate better with any armor you might have to wear.

I think all services should just have one uniform and then whatever dress uniform. Having different patches is enough to distinguish between them all. Oh well, I've got 3 different sets hanging up at home. Two of which will remain on hangers unless they let us wear them again lol

Not completely true. If you are active duty, you also get a yearly clothing allowance. For the reserves, you get to exchange unservicable uniforms for new serviceable ones. Don't make it sound like the AF only gives you your basic training issue, and that's it.

So a sailor hits the water, no bell bottoms! How does he get his pants off over shoes/boots
to make a flowtation device? Does he now just drown?
Those uniforms were designed for a purpose!
I realize I was in a different generation, but we used to practice this @ San Diego NTC.

There was a lot of thought in the navy uniform. Such as the flap on the jumper, to keep to long hair (sailors of old) oily hair off the jumpers.

I think Obama had something to do with this. J/K.......Lol.

In the Marines we trained to just take off our boots, then make a flotation device out of our trousers. No reason to drown just because there are boots on your feet.

The army should issue ACU and a dye kit consisting of coyote brown bright green and tan brown this would allow them to blend anywhere

as far as going overboard, that argument is a non starter: the utilities, coveralls and the dungarees, when wet, are in the same situation if there is any kind of chop on the water, and if there isnt, just look for the spot where there seems to be lots of commotion.

As far as sharing uniforms, I dont understand why we didnt just stick with the damn woodlands that were already in the inventory, already had uniform regs printed and enforced on them, etc, instead of reinventing the wheel.

is it true certain parts of the uniform turn orange when exposed to salt water? I hear this rumor here at FSH but cant confirm it

I'm doing some contract work at NBSD and so far I've seen the following uniforms being worn by the Navy personnel here:

1. Multicam
2. NWU
3. BDU
4. Some type of desert digital camo. Looks trick. Marine camo? Navy Corpsman perhaps?

If someone of Navy orgin could explain, I'd love to know why there are so many different varieties and who gets to wear what. Also, why are some individuals (both officer and enlisted) allowed to wear neatly trimmed beards? They look like they are way beyond what a shaving waiver would allow.

Yes, I am with epileptic ninja... I saw a bunch of Navy EOD guys wearing some sort of green digi pattern yesterday. And I've seen Coasties wearing Multicam
