I noticed that the sailors are wearing a blue camo now. Did they ditch the blue shirt janitor getup completely?

If your referring to the Blue Dungarees, yes.

Yeah, most guys hate the new "Avatar" uniform. Got a few friends who are corpsmen and glad they don't have to wear them.sigpic
Originally posted by starsnufferIt's an HK, I could lube it with sand and superglue and it'd work just fine.Comment

They phased out dungarees more than a decade ago. I was referring to the sky blue shirt and dark blue slacks, not the cotton shirt and bell bottom denim getup.
I think those new uniforms look easier to wear. Only thing I'd hate is the whole pants-in-the-boots thing.Comment

Personally I think this

Looks better than this

As for the "pants in boots" its actually not. There's blousing straps to properly blouse the pants on the outside of the boots. Not quite sure what the uproar over the new uniforms is, easier to maintain than utilities and warmer in colder weather with the parker/liner instead of the crappy utility jackets.Comment

What was the green getup that the CNO & MCPON were wearing in your guys birthday address? Is that going to replace your blue utilities?Comment

NWU II and III are desert and woodland digital camouflage uniforms. The desert variety, to my knowledge, will only be worn by members of SPECWAR and SPECOPS, and any personnel attached to those units. However, anyone else deploying to the Middle East will continue to wear the DCU. While I'm no expert, I believe this could do a lot to ruin the anonymity that comes with the NSW community. Anyone else going overseas will still wear the DCU. NWU III will simply replace woodland BDUs. I do not understand what the purpose was behind making it so damn confusing.Originally posted by John StarkLive free or die. Death is not the worst of evils.Comment

Yeah. After four years of wasting time ironing and starching military creases into those utilities, and subsequently ruining them with paint, grease or whatever other nasty **** I was dealing with, I'd say the NWUs are a major improvement. I still think the Coast Guard has the right idea with their BDU style uniforms though. The coveralls seem to be the perfect navy uniform. Super comfortable, cheap and low maintenance.Comment

I agree they look better than the older working uniforms. However, If you look close enough, the pants aren't tucked into the boots. They are bloused up by elastic straps and placed in between the first and second loops of the boot.Personally I think this

The Marines got pissed when the Navy originally came up with the NWU II & III plan. I can understand them wanting a very specific image, even though Big Navy pays their bills. Naval personnel attached to the Army wear the ACU. My sister's boyfriend, an ST2, just got back from IA in Bagram. With the exception of his crow and service tape, everything he wore was Army. I have less of a problem with the NWU than with this:
No one I know in the Navy has anything positive to say about it.Originally posted by John StarkLive free or die. Death is not the worst of evils.Comment

I saw people the other day wearing what appeared to be marpat cammies but they looked anlittle different this was at the navy exchange and they were not corpsmen or specwar guys.Comment
