The US Volunteers, I've actually run into these guys before while out recruiting. They perform a good service, and they DO NOT wear US ARMY nametapes or anything. They have Class A's, rank, and that stuff...but they do not purport to BE the Army. If this USAFVR didn't wear US ARMY nametapes I wouldn't be half as pissed.

cpl-dan: I totally understand how you feel. I'm a Marine D.Storm vet, 0332, and I'm totally pissed off. Even more so since my heritage is Japanese. They make all of us Americans of Asian descent look bad. I bet these a*s wipes are freaking FOBs who snuck in a shipping container. F-ing hate illegals! All of them! My folks came over the right way and worked hard to become real legal residents then naturalized citizens. These USAVR clowns need to investigated and exposed as the frauds that they are.

Exactly. some have mentioned the Civil Air Patrol as a comparison. The CAP doesn't wear an Air Force name tape, they wear a CAP name tape, other than that the uniforms are identical, at least they were many years ago when I was 12/13 and in the CAP. These guys cannot be legit...want to see how this turns out...

This is going to be good.

I hope the CalNG doesn't get dragged down with this, if they are indeed providing training (and uniforms, unit patches, etc....)

Then again, this could be something that some "community activist" 1LT in the NG is supporting without his CO being aware of.

There is a similar group, The United States Volunteers Joint Services Command (USV-JSC) http://www.qhappy.com/usv/ The USV-JSC is searching for retired military and civilian men and women, and clergy members who would be willing to re-enlist in this volunteer military service organization to be trained and called to active duty as a civilian volunteer to honor our nation's veterans.

They are listed with the IRS and CA AG.

One of there members, "John A. Henke
MG, USAFVR, USV-JSC, Commanding General, 9th Regional Command" has "USAFVR" in his title.
Ya... the only thing that I could find was the US Armed Forces Veteran Reserve.

I only got one page of hits on Yahoo on USAFVR, and all of them referred to the Vet's Reserve except for the link to Mao Jr's site.

I had to keep explaining to him if they were USAFVR. He repeated "U. S. A. F. V. R." cluelessly. I also keep asking him if they were a government or volunteer group. I asked if they recruit people to join the Army. I asked the old man if they were government, US or Chinese? I also asked what they do if they are USAFVR. The old man keep putting me on hold, and I kept hearing Chinese people in the background talking back and forth about how to talk to this person on the phone asking about "USAFVR." The old man put me on hold, then a young Chinese lady took the phone, and I asked her the same questions as the old man "Is this USAFVR? Are you government or volunteer? Do you recruit people for the Army?" She had no clue, couldn't answer any questions, put me on hold, and then another female took the phone, I asked HER the same questions, and she couldn't give me a straight answer either, the only english I got out of her was "Hello?". Then the old man picked up the phone again, and I asked him if they were government or volunteer. He kept insisting "Yes, yes, yes, yes," but I couldn't get it out of him whether it was government or volunteer. I asked him what USAFVR does and he kept talking Chinese every other word. Then a Chinese male who had slightly better english asked for my name, and I gave him a first name. And then I asked him if they were USAFVR and if they were government or volunteers. He said something in Chinese and I heard the words "army reserve" and then he asked me if I was "on a base." I told him no, but I have friends in the Marines and I wanted to find out about USAFVR. He told me to give him my number so that they could call back. I decided I didn't want these people to know my cell phone number so I hung up then. Really weird stuff!

EDIT: The old man at the number called me back in 22 mins and asked if they could call me back tomorrow between 10-5. I asked if their "office" was closed. The old man said yes because it is Independence Day and he said they will be open tomorrow

SECOND EDIT: Ok, I just got a call from a different number (626) 379-5048 from a Chinese male who had intelligible english. He told me USAFVR is a volunteer group that is not government and that they "serve their community." The man told me that they are supporters of the National Guard. I asked if they have any National Guard members in their group, and the man sort of hesitated, and then said "We have National Guard people who train us and advise us." I asked him if they are a hobby group. The man hesitated again, and said 'Yes. You could say we are a hobby group." I was about to probe into this and ask if he knew about war re-enactors to drive my point home, when he suddenly said that he is "training, driving right now, can't talk now, ok to call you back tomorrow?" I said yes. Oh yeah, and the guy I talked to said his name was Jerry.
very interesting .... if this group really is a so called "hobby or enthusiast"group pretending to play soldiers maybe an official investigation is in order im going to make a call to my congressman and also veterans affairs ( the real one) see what they have to say about this funky stuff. crap ill join if they will make me commanding 5 star general of the galactic forces region sector 2.5.132.5 of alpha sector 7... I really want to command my own star ship LOL

I will give you the short answer. The CA ARNG is aware of these guys and they have been given a cease and desist order in the past. I was email some links to other sites like theirs but I am on leave and can not get my mil email here. I will try and get more info about these other groups if anything I here they are pretty comical. I do not have issue with what they do but they should not be wearing patches that match regular forces.

I went into the Armory today and talked with SGT Ma about the pictures of him on their website, on a number of the pictures you can see 2LT rank on his chest but SPC rank on his stetson. SGT Ma was dumbfounded as how that could be as he never wore the 2LT rank. Upon him calling Wang it was learned that the creator of the website took upon himself to digitally alter the pictures, why? apparently he felt that Ma should outrank the usfvr people as he is actually in the Military.

Suffice to say SGT May was very upset and demanded that those pictures be removed as they made him look like he was impersonating an officer. As to why my fellow soldiers were in the presence of these individuals, I don't think I can share just yet, but I assure everyone that it was harmless and the CAARNG have done no wrong.
