This has to be illegal under the stolen valor act or whatever covers the illegal wearing of military uniforms? They're civilians...

is an unincorporated and non profit organization authorized by the State of California
Theres nothing official about then, authorized could mean as little as being granted non-profit status or less. Not to mention their pictures show them doing public events with US Army nametape. It seems like bull**** to me.

WOW this is Crazy!!! I'm in the CSMR and if they are authorized by the state, then why the hell can they wear U.S. Army and we can't?? Their mission looks identical to ours! No way this is legit...?!?!

Wow interesting WTF is this indeed. From what it looks like on the website they're some kind of community service group that dresses up in Army uniforms. They sure wear the uniforms correctly and all why can't they just join the Army reserve? It kind of pisses me off that they parade around in army uniforms when they're not affiliated with the Army. I served for 8 years in the reserves and I'm proud to wear my uniform because I went through the ordeals of becoming a soldier.

They should at least take the US army name tapes off and use a different BDU than the ACU like multicam or something. It just seems like they want to play soldier or something. Could be some a militia or something also, they don't seem to show any weapons in their pictures.

Here's some info I found on another forum:

United States Army Volunteer Reserve was a group that for several years donned Army uniforms, sought military honors and even called itself a reserve to the Army, yet was not military and not connected to the Army. I am not sure what the status is of this group today, but it does serve as an example of what some of these phony groups try and get away with.

Hey guys, I just called them right now at 626.319.9158. There was an old Chinese man who picked up, with very poor english, and he pretty much had no idea what USAFVR was. I had to keep explaining to him if they were USAFVR. He repeated "U. S. A. F. V. R." cluelessly. I also keep asking him if they were a government or volunteer group. I asked if they recruit people to join the Army. I asked the old man if they were government, US or Chinese? I also asked what they do if they are USAFVR. The old man keep putting me on hold, and I kept hearing Chinese people in the background talking back and forth about how to talk to this person on the phone asking about "USAFVR." The old man put me on hold, then a young Chinese lady took the phone, and I asked her the same questions as the old man "Is this USAFVR? Are you government or volunteer? Do you recruit people for the Army?" She had no clue, couldn't answer any questions, put me on hold, and then another female took the phone, I asked HER the same questions, and she couldn't give me a straight answer either, the only english I got out of her was "Hello?". Then the old man picked up the phone again, and I asked him if they were government or volunteer. He kept insisting "Yes, yes, yes, yes," but I couldn't get it out of him whether it was government or volunteer. I asked him what USAFVR does and he kept talking Chinese every other word. Then a Chinese male who had slightly better english asked for my name, and I gave him a first name. And then I asked him if they were USAFVR and if they were government or volunteers. He said something in Chinese and I heard the words "army reserve" and then he asked me if I was "on a base." I told him no, but I have friends in the Marines and I wanted to find out about USAFVR. He told me to give him my number so that they could call back. I decided I didn't want these people to know my cell phone number so I hung up then. Really weird stuff!

EDIT: The old man at the number called me back in 22 mins and asked if they could call me back tomorrow between 10-5. I asked if their "office" was closed. The old man said yes because it is Independence Day and he said they will be open tomorrow

SECOND EDIT: Ok, I just got a call from a different number (626) 379-5048 from a Chinese male who had intelligible english. He told me USAFVR is a volunteer group that is not government and that they "serve their community." The man told me that they are supporters of the National Guard. I asked if they have any National Guard members in their group, and the man sort of hesitated, and then said "We have National Guard people who train us and advise us." I asked him if they are a hobby group. The man hesitated again, and said 'Yes. You could say we are a hobby group." I was about to probe into this and ask if he knew about war re-enactors to drive my point home, when he suddenly said that he is "training, driving right now, can't talk now, ok to call you back tomorrow?" I said yes. Oh yeah, and the guy I talked to said his name was Jerry.

The one star in that pic looks like he's wearing a CAC card on his uniform. Kinda wondering whats on it, and where he got it.

This web site that was posted earlier touches a bit on that. Apparently they had ID cards, which are similar to military ID's designed for their members.
