Wow...there is a lot of reading to do.

Can someone answer a question for me. I acquired couple rifles after 2014 and do not remember the dates that I acquired them. I saw that some people got rejection because the dates did not match the database information. I've already sent a request for firearms info to DOJ with the form they provide and sent it notarized. Will the list of firearms they send me have the dates?

I believe so but getting that form can take months and may make you miss the deadline. I would suggest to visit the FFLs you got the firearms from. They should be able to provide you a copy of the DROS.

Time Check: Just about two weeks and still waiting, all my registrations just show in progress, no 80%'s so I would have expected a quick approval and letter but no such luck.

Thanks for the great information in this thread, a lot of effort was put into the OP.

I have a question that I cant find the answer for. Is there a law enforcement exemption to registration? (Personally owned, not department rifles)

Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere. 36 pages was a little too much to scan through.

Nope, no exemption for personally owned weapons for LE.

The only AW-related exemption for LE, is you can apply for a permit from DOJ to acquire (any) AW if you have an approval from your department - but I'm not sure if the permit applies to personal weapons or just ones for duty.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Thanks for the quick reply! Bummer too...

What happens if I misplaced my DROS paperwork during a move, so I don't have the date when the DROS was submitted? All were purchased in 2016. One of the FFLs went out of business, so I can no longer contact them for the information. Is there any other way to get the information needed to register? Or is best guess OK, if it's within the correct month?

For the ones where the FFL is still in business, call them up or pay a visit to get the DROS dates.

For the one where the FFL is out of business, all you can do is make your best guess. Review credit card statements, that might get you the correct date. Otherwise, note in the Comments that the date is only a guess, and the FFL is out of business and unreachable - hopefully they can then provide you with the correct date.

Generally, for some reason, DOJ refuses to tell us what our purchase dates are even if they know goddamn well what it is. They'l say "Your date doesn't match what we have in our record," and you say "Well what date do you have?" and they say "Call your FFL if you don't know what it is." I don't know why they like playing games instead of just answering our questions so it can proceed forward, but that's the way they're doing it for some dumb reason.

Just an FYI... DOJ will accept a form 1008 (New serial number application) with the FSC line blank, if you are exempt. I explained in my email that I have a valid CA CCW and thus no FSC, and they didn't have a problem with that, and issued me my serials. I would assume the same applies for hunting licenses (for long gun serials). Updated the OP to reflect this new info.

Anyone else having problems with CFARS malfunctioning during the submission?

I did...it won't accept my address. I double and triple and quadruple checked it. Even tried all caps and and even put it all together with no space...still says there is an incorrect character or something. My address is a very straight forward address with no suite numbers or anything such as:

                        John Doe
                        1234 Main Street
                        Springfield, CA 12345

                        Makes no sense....ugh!

UPDATE: IT TURNS OUT THE FFL DEALER ADDRESS WAS IN ERROR. HAS TO HAVE "ST." SPELLED OUT TO "STREET". THE SYSTEM ONLY HIGHLIGHTED MY ADDRESS WHICH IS ON THE WAY TOP OF THE REGISTRATION AND THE DEALER ADDRESS IS AT THE WAY BOTTOM OF THE REGISTRATION. SAID THERE WAS AN "INVALID CHARACTER"

What is the current timeline for DOJ processing "NEW" RAW applications?

I've heard someone say "2 months" , but curious how long it as taken others to get approved.

Would a Raddlock bullet button would get a denial from DOJ?

Hopefully not 2 months, that is cutting it close. I wouldn't want to find out how they deal with a pending submission come the deadline

It varies quite a bit. Some people have reported 10 days, others have reported 90. Most seem to fall somewhere in the middle - around 45 days.

They do seem to "prioritize" applications that contain only basic AR style rifles. But even that is hit-or-miss.

Raddlocks are fine, many people have been approved with them. I even recommend them, simply for the possibility (however remote) that their ability to be converted without changing any parts might prove to be good thing. Or it also might never help at all, who knows... but it's only $35, so why not register with it just in case?

I am starting to sweat balls over my volreg home builds, no word yet. My BBAW's took about 6-7 weeks for each batch, it's been 9 weeks since then (I submitted the volreg at the same time as the last BBAW batch).

Anyone also experiencing slow times for the volreg?
