They do send an email, I received one 8 weeks ago and ignored it. I believe the passwords are good for 90 days from memory but it could be 120 days-definitely mine was not more than 120 days.

I had to reset mine 3 weeks ago because I was too stupid and lazy to do it when I received the email warning and though I remembered a couple times after that I was still in stupid lazy mode so it lapsed. I used an old fashioned laptop and firefox as that seems to work well for me at CFARS and has been reported by several that this works for registering, web page refreshing, and password resets when other browsers/machines failed.

CFARS does not like the adult version of your toy baby rattle (the Chinese made dumb phones which has single handedly reduced Industrial output in America by 25% as adult Americans shake and play with their toy rattle instead of doing work that they are paid to do-because its all "EMERGENCY" shaking of the rattle for "EMERGENCY" communication with family, friends, drug dealers, hookers, and so on...-all this is part of Chairmans' Xi plan to defeat America) nor does CFARS like Microsoft browsers. I believe firefox paid off the best government you can buy (Samuel Clemens) to have that be the official state internet browser.

Using firefox to reset my password, no problemo. I also recommend you reset your password when you get the email as its seems allot of members do not have a laptops/desktops with current version of firefox browser installed, so when your password expires there can be difficulty resetting it-especially if you are shaking your toy rattle at them.:

At 75 days a notice appeared at the top of the home page after logging in to change my password. I changed it then, rather than wait to find out how long before my access was suspended due to expired password. My guess is that the period before the password expires would be 90 days based on my experience.

Got a reply from doj today, they said my app is incomplete because I failed to click the "folding stock" characteristics. I have a scar 17s, the stock is fixed when I got it and can not be folded.
Do I try to contact them and tell them that it can not be folded or just clicked the folding stock check box and get it over with?
Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Most people who have encountered this, have used the "Issue Log" function on the website to reply to their request with a simple "Stock is fixed, it does not fold", along with maybe a simple explanation of how it's pinned.

Normally, DOJ will accept that reply and push the app through.

If DOJ argues with you about features like muzzle brake vs flash hider, or barrel shroud vs second handgrip, etc, it's often (but not always) best to just comply with what they're asking for so the app can move forward and get processed. But the problem with checking the folding stock checkbox on a scar17 is that your OAL would be under 30" if it actually folded, which would not have been a legal configuration to own in 2000-2016. So you'd be potentially inadvertently confessing to a crime you didn't even commit, drawing unwanted attention to you.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

The option is actually "Folding or Telescoping Stock". The Scar has both btw.
So what you do is check the box "Folding or Telescoping Stock" and in the comment section add a comment like "Folding Stock is pinned making it unable to fold". They actually do read the comments. This is how scars I know of got approved.

Weird... my password has been set to expire 3 or 4 times since I created my account, but I've never gotten an email about it.

Just another example of DOJ being completely inconsistent.

Great point, I forgot that SCARs both fold and telescope.

I did not receive an e-mail, though I got the "change password" prompt when I logged in. I suppose that's why those of us who log in frequently haven't gotten locked out.

alright so i got an email that i need to update the following characteristics

"Telescoping Stock" and "Pistol Grip that Protrudes Beneath the Weapon" characteristics

just want to ask here, since 100% accurate details are of the essence

Im assuming the pistol grip is just for the standard pistol grip ?

and for "telescoping stock" I have a standard collapsible stock on there, is that considered "telescoping" ? and if so any special notes that i should include?

Yes, this is why we need to log in every once in a while. I also got a password renewal notice on the CFARS page without ever seeing an e-mail.

Yes, a collapsing stock is a telescoping stock - check the box.

Yes, "pistol grip" means a grip like the picture below - check that box too.

No need to include special notes... that stock and pistol grip are things the DOJ has seen tens of thousands of times, they know exactly what they are.

No I mean 30". You can't have a <30" semiauto rifle unless it's a Registered Assault Weapon, and before 2017 his rifle wasn't a RAW.

So, to admit that it folded to <30" before 2017, would be admitting to previously owning and/or manufacturing an unregistered AW. Ergo, you should never tell DOJ your stock was a folding stock unless it's still >30" when folded.

After it's a RAW, knock yourself out, make the stock fold to 26" if you'd like.
