Friend who submitted two rifles to CFARS in late June right before the deadline just got his RAW letter yesterday (Sept 10th). They were just simple ARs; nothing too exotic.

            Disabling of Password

Honestly, that's ****. If weapons are held in limbo and we're not allowed find out what's happening that may be enough to motivate an old man who has seen enough of the battlefield and who longs for the pasture.

Originally when they started this nonsense they had on their instructions, FAQ's, and responses that you not ask about the status of your registration until 120 days have passed. By inference I would translate that to also mean if you have not had any communications about your registration for 120 days that you should contact them.

But the bureaucrat may reinterpret that for those of us that had a INCOMPLETE that the 120 days starts all over for them as you did hear back on your registrtion. Might explain why the kickbacks are not getting any attention while others are.

I also feel sorry for the one fellow left in the office that has to process 90,000 applications while the 29 they let go only processed 28,000 in 250 work days or 3.7 applications per day. I wonder what those folks did with all of their time. Most likely they were recruited to go onto social media for the other 7.5 hours a day to TRASH Donald Trump and the Republicans. The whole point of this registration was to provide financing to attack my beliefs and my personal security.

So going back to the one poor fellow left in the office .....the poor chap will be working another 97 years at the office rate of 3.7 applications per day per processor. He will be able to hand off the job to his son, his son's son, and his son's son son. At least four generations of government subsidized bureaucracy paid with your taxes and fees.

The 120 days "policy" isn't really a policy at all, it's just what they tell people so they don't have to answer everyone's inquiries. Sometimes they also say to wait 90 days, instead of 120. Sometimes they don't ask you to wait at all, they just give you a (vague) answer right then. And sometimes after 120 days they still won't answer your question.

Generally speaking, it's pointless to contact DOJ about your status. You will NEVER get a specific answer, and there is no reason to believe that any apps marked "in progress" are being held up for any reason. Apps that have any issues get marked "Incomplete".

So, as long as your app is not marked "incomplete", then the best plan is to just keep waiting - bugging DOJ about the status won't ever net any results.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Following up on the password issue. Got this email yesterday and replied to it with the requested info.

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your CFARS account. If you are having trouble accessing your CFARS account and need a password reset, please provide your first and last name, California driver’s license number, date of birth, contact number, and email address that is associated with your account. Thank you!
Got a call today from the DOJ with a new temporary password which was used to log in to a "create a new password page" and a new password was created and is working.

No idea why the online new password link does not work. Seems pretty silly if they have to call each and every one of us to update passwords that expire regularly.

Used the Forgot Password link, received email saying use this link to reset password: https://cfars.doj.ca.gov/resetPasswo...7CGDvx84c29464

Clicked on link and and it takes me to the Login page and got this in red: "Your token is invalid or has expired.” So could not reset password...

Sounds like something got broke in a recent S/W upgrade.

Never a dull day at DoJ. If they were to process all of their In Progress submissions, they wouldn't have to deal with password updates.

They warn you about 2 weeks in advance (as a note on top of their website when you login) when your password is set to expire - I'd recommend changing your password as soon as you possible if you see that notice.

For whatever reason, the process to reset your password after it expires has been broken for several months now, so it's best to not let it get to that point.

I got incomplete responses on CFARS that did not indicate what the issue was, they just said missing feature and referred me to the regulations. I guessed second handgrip (they were ar and ak pistols)

My pps they told me to mark 2nd handgrip when there is only a barrel shroud, whatever.

Never saw that warning and have been looking every week except for the past two weeks. Must have timed it perfectly...

You would think that they might send an automated email to everyone whose password is about to expire.

Anyone figured out how long passwords are good for?
